1 But Job answered and said, Et Job répondit et dit : And Job answered and said, Respondió entonces Job, y dijo:
2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together! Oh ! si mon chagrin était bien pesé, et si on mettait toutea ma calamité dans la balance ! Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and all my calamity laid in the balances! ¡Oh, que pesasen justamente mi queja y mi tormento,
Y se alzasen igualmente en balanza!
3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up. Car maintenant elle pèserait plus que le sable des mers ; c'est pourquoi mes paroles sont outrées ; For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; therefore my words are vehement. Porque pesarían ahora más que la arena del mar;
Por eso mis palabras han sido precipitadas.
4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. Car les flèches du Tout-puissant sont en moi, leur venin boit mon esprit ; les frayeurs de †Dieu se rangent en bataille contre moi. For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, their poison drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of +God are arrayed against me. Porque las saetas del Todopoderoso están en mí,
Cuyo veneno bebe mi espíritu;
Y terrores de Dios me combaten.
5 Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder? L'âne sauvage brait-il auprès de l'herbe ? Le bœuf mugit-il auprès de son fourrage ? Doth the wild ass bray by the grass? loweth an ox over his fodder? ¿Acaso gime el asno montés junto a la hierba?
¿Muge el buey junto a su pasto?
6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg? Ce qui est insipide, le mange-t-on sans sel ? Y a-t-il de la saveur dans le blanc d'un œuf ? Shall that which is insipid be eaten without salt? Is there any taste in the white of an egg? ¿Se comerá lo desabrido sin sal?
¿Habrá gusto en la clara del huevo?
7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat. Ce que mon âme refusait de toucher est commeb ma dégoûtante nourriture. What my soul refuseth to touch, that is as my loathsome food. Las cosas que mi alma no quería tocar,
Son ahora mi alimento.
8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! ✱ Oh ! si ma demande s'accomplissait, et si †Dieu m'accordait mon désir, Oh that I might have my request, and that +God would grant my desire! ¡Quién me diera que viniese mi petición,
Y que me otorgase Dios lo que anhelo,
9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! S'il plaisait à †Dieu de m'écraser, de lâcher sa main et de me retrancher ! And that it would please +God to crush me, that he would let loose his hand and cut me off! Y que agradara a Dios quebrantarme;
Que soltara su mano, y acabara conmigo!
10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One. Alors il y aurait encore pour moi une consolation, et, dans la douleur qui ne m'épargne pas, je me réjouirais de ce que jec n'ai pas renié les paroles du Saint. Then should I yet have comfort; and in the pain which spareth not I would rejoice that I have not denied the words of the Holy One. Sería aún mi consuelo,
Si me asaltase con dolor sin dar más tregua,
Que yo no he escondido las palabras del Santo.
11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life? Quelle est ma force pour que j'attende, et quelle est ma fin pour que je patiente ? What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should have patience? ¿Cuál es mi fuerza para esperar aún?
¿Y cuál mi fin para que tenga aún paciencia?
12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass? Ma force est-elle la force des pierres ? Ma chair est-elle d'airain ? Is my strength the strength of stones? is my flesh of brass? ¿Es mi fuerza la de las piedras,
O es mi carne de bronce?
13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me? N'est-ce pas qu'il n'y a point de secours en moi, et que toute capacité est chassée loin de moi ? Is it not that there is no help in me, and soundness is driven away from me? ¿No es así que ni aun a mí mismo me puedo valer,
Y que todo auxilio me ha faltado?
14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. ✱ À celui qui est défaillant est due la miséricorde de la part de son ami, sinon il abandonnera la crainte du Tout-Puissant. For him that is fainting kindness is meet from his friend; or he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. El atribulado es consolado por su compañero;
Aun aquel que abandona el temor del Omnipotente.
15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away; Mes frères m'ont trahi comme un torrent, comme le lit des torrents qui passent, My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a stream, as the channel of streams which pass away, Pero mis hermanos me traicionaron como un torrente;
Pasan como corrientes impetuosas
16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid: Qui sont troubles à cause des glaces, dans lesquels la neige se cache ; Which are turbid by reason of the ice, in which the snow hideth itself: Que están escondidas por la helada,
Y encubiertas por la nieve;
17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. Au temps où ils se resserrentd ils tarissent, quand la chaleur les frappe ils disparaissent de leur lieu : At the time they diminish, they are dried up; when heat affecteth them, they vanish from their place: Que al tiempo del calor son deshechas,
Y al calentarse, desaparecen de su lugar;
18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish. Ils serpentent dans les sentiers de leur cours, ils s'en vont dans le désert, et périssent. They wind about in the paths of their course, they go off into the waste and perish. Se apartan de la senda de su rumbo,
Van menguando, y se pierden.
19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them. Les caravanes de Théma les cherchaient du regard, les voyageurs de Sheba s'attendaient à eux ; The caravans of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba counted on them: Miraron los caminantes de Temán,
Los caminantes de Sabá esperaron en ellas;
20 They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed. Ils ont été honteux de leur confiance ; ils sont venus là, et ont été confondus. They are ashamed at their hope; they come thither, and are confounded. Pero fueron avergonzados por su esperanza;
Porque vinieron hasta ellas, y se hallaron confusos.
21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid. De même maintenant vous n'êtes rien ; vous avez vu un objet de terreur, et vous vous êtes effrayés. So now ye are nothing; ye see a terrible object and are afraid. Ahora ciertamente como ellas sois vosotros;
Pues habéis visto el tormento, y teméis.
22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance? Ai-je dit : Donnez-moi, et de votre richesse faites-moi des présents, Did I say, Bring unto me, and make me a present from your substance? ¿Os he dicho yo: Traedme,
Y pagad por mí de vuestra hacienda;
23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty? Et délivrez-moi de la main de l'oppresseur, et rachetez-moi de la main des terribles ? Or, rescue me from the hand of the oppressor, and redeem me from the hand of the violent? Libradme de la mano del opresor,
Y redimidme del poder de los violentos?
24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. ✱ Enseignez-moi, et je me tairai ; et faites-moi comprendre en quoi je me trompe. Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. Enseñadme, y yo callaré;
Hacedme entender en qué he errado.
25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove? Combien sont puissantes les paroles justes ! Mais la censure de votre part que reprend-elle ? How forcible are right words! but what doth your upbraiding reprove? ¡Cuán eficaces son las palabras rectas!
Pero ¿qué reprende la censura vuestra?
26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind? Songez-vous à censurer des discours ? Mais les paroles d'un désespéré ne sont faites que pour le vent. Do ye imagine to reprove words? The speeches of one that is desperate are indeed for the wind. ¿Pensáis censurar palabras,
Y los discursos de un desesperado, que son como el viento?
27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend. Certes, vous tombez sur l'orphelin, et vous creusez [une fosse] pour votre ami. Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and dig a pit for your friend. También os arrojáis sobre el huérfano,
Y caváis un hoyo para vuestro amigo.
28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie. Et maintenant, si vous voulez, regardez-moi ; vous mentirais-je donc en face ? Now therefore if ye will, look upon me; and it shall be to your face if I lie. Ahora, pues, si queréis, miradme,
Y ved si digo mentira delante de vosotros.
29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it. Revenez, je vous prie ; qu'il n'y ait pas d'injustice ; oui, revenez encore : ma justice sera là. Return, I pray you, let there be no wrong; yea, return again, my righteousness shall be in it. Volved ahora, y no haya iniquidad;
Volved aún a considerar mi justicia en esto.
30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things? Y a-t-il de l'iniquité en ma langue ? Mon palais ne discernerait-il pas la méchanceté ? Is there wrong in my tongue? cannot my taste discern mischievous things? ¿Hay iniquidad en mi lengua?
¿Acaso no puede mi paladar discernir las cosas inicuas?
