2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Qui est celui-ci qui obscurcit le conseil par des discours sans connaissance ? Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? ¿Quién es ese que oscurece el consejo
Con palabras sin sabiduría?
3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Ceins tes reins comme un homme, et je t'interrogerai et tu m'instruiras ! Gird up now thy loins like a man; and I will demand of thee, and inform thou me. Ahora ciñe como varón tus lomos;
Yo te preguntaré, y tú me contestarás.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Où étais-tu quand j'ai fondé la terre ? Déclare-le-moi, si tu as de l'intelligence. Where wast thou when I founded the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. ¿Dónde estabas tú cuando yo fundaba la tierra?
Házmelo saber, si tienes inteligencia.
5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Qui lui a établi sa mesure, — si tu le sais ? Ou qui a étendu le cordeau sur elle ? Who set the measures thereof--if thou knowest? or who stretched a line upon it? ¿Quién ordenó sus medidas, si lo sabes?
¿O quién extendió sobre ella cordel?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; Sur quoi ses bases sont-elles assisesa, ou qui a placé sa pierre angulaire, Whereupon were the foundations thereof sunken? or who laid its corner-stone, ¿Sobre qué están fundadas sus bases?
¿O quién puso su piedra angular,

Y por su faja oscuridad,
10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, Quand je lui découpai ses limites et lui mis des barres et des portes, When I cut out for it my boundary, and set bars and doors, Y establecí sobre él mi decreto,
Le puse puertas y cerrojo,
11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Et que je dis : Tu viendras jusqu'ici et tu n'iras pas plus loin, et ici s'arrêtera l'orgueil de tes flots ? And said, Hitherto shalt thou come and no further, and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Y dije: Hasta aquí llegarás, y no pasarás adelante,
Y ahí parará el orgullo de tus olas?a
12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; ✱ As-tu, de ta vieb, commandé au matin ? As-tu montré à l'aube du jour sa place, Hast thou since thy days commanded the morning? hast thou caused the dawn to know its place, ¿Has mandado tú a la mañana en tus días?
¿Has mostrado al alba su lugar,
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? Pour qu'elle saisisse les bords de la terre, et que les méchants en soient secoués ? That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked might be shaken out of it? Para que ocupe los fines de la tierra,
Y para que sean sacudidos de ella los impíos?
14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. Ellec se change comme l'argile d'un sceau, et [toutes choses] se présentent parées comme d'un vêtement ; It is changed like the signet-clay; and all things stand forth as in a garment: Ella muda luego de aspecto como barro bajo el sello,
Y viene a estar como con vestidura;
15 And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken. Et leur lumièred est ôtée aux méchants, et le bras levé est cassé. And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the uplifted arm is broken. Mas la luz de los impíos es quitada de ellos,
Y el brazo enaltecido es quebrantado.
16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? ✱ Es-tu allé aux sources de la mer, et t'es-tu promené dans les profondeurs de l'abîme ? Hast thou entered as far as the springs of the sea? and hast thou walked in the recesses of the deep? ¿Has entrado tú hasta las fuentes del mar,
Y has andado escudriñando el abismo?
17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? Les portes de la mort se sont-elles découvertes à toi ? Et as-tu vu les portes de l'ombre de la mort ? Have the gates of death been revealed unto thee? and hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death? ¿Te han sido descubiertas las puertas de la muerte,
Y has visto las puertas de la sombra de muerte?
18 Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all. Ton regard a-t-il pénétré jusque dans les vastes espaces de la terre ? Dis-le, si tu connais tout cela. Hath thine understanding compassed the breadths of the earth? Declare if thou knowest it all. ¿Has considerado tú hasta las anchuras de la tierra?
Declara si sabes todo esto.
19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, ✱ Où est le chemin vers le séjour de la lumière ? et les ténèbres, où est leur place ? Where is the way to where light dwelleth? and the darkness, where is its place, ¿Por dónde va el camino a la habitación de la luz,
Y dónde está el lugar de las tinieblas,
20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof? Pour que tu les prennes à leur limite, et que tu connaisses les sentiers de leur maison ? That thou shouldest take it to its bound, and that thou shouldest know the paths to its house? Para que las lleves a sus límites,
Y entiendas las sendas de su casa?
21 Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great? Tu le sais, car tu étais né alors, et le nombre de tes jours est grand ! Thou knowest, for thou wast then born, and the number of thy days is great! ¡Tú lo sabes! Pues entonces ya habías nacido,
Y es grande el número de tus días.
22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, ✱ Es-tu allé aux trésors de la neige, et as-tu vu les trésors de la grêle, Hast thou entered into the storehouses of the snow, and hast thou seen the treasuries of the hail, ¿Has entrado tú en los tesoros de la nieve,
O has visto los tesoros del granizo,
23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? Que j'ai mis en réserve pour le temps de la détresse, pour le jour du combat et de la guerre ? Which I have reserved for the time of distress, for the day of battle and war? Que tengo reservados para el tiempo de angustia,

Y se esparce el viento solano sobre la tierra?
25 Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; Qui a découpé des canaux aux torrents de pluie, et un chemin à l'éclair des tonnerres, Who hath divided a channel for the rain-flood, and a way for the thunder's flash; ¿Quién repartió conducto al turbión,
Y camino a los relámpagos y truenos,
26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; Pour faire pleuvoir sur une terre où il n'y a personne, sur le désert où il n'y a pas d'hommes ; To cause it to rain on the earth, where no one is; on the wilderness wherein there is not a man; Haciendo llover sobre la tierra deshabitada,
Sobre el desierto, donde no hay hombre,
27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? Pour rassasier les lieux désolés et déserts, pour faire germer les pousses de l'herbe ? To satisfy the desolate and waste ground , and to cause the sprout of the grass to spring forth? Para saciar la tierra desierta e inculta,
Y para hacer brotar la tierna hierba?
28 Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew? La pluie a-t-elle un père ? ou qui engendre les gouttes de la rosée ? Hath the rain a father? or who begetteth the drops of dew? ¿Tiene la lluvia padre?
¿O quién engendró las gotas del rocío?
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? Du sein de qui sort la glace ? et le frimas des cieux, qui l'enfante ? Out of whose womb cometh the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who bringeth it forth? ¿De qué vientre salió el hielo?
Y la escarcha del cielo, ¿quién la engendró?
30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. Devenues pierre, les eaux se cachent, et la surface de l'abîme se prend. When the waters lie hidden as in stone, and the face of the deep holdeth fast together. Las aguas se endurecen a manera de piedra,

31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? ✱ Peux-tu serrer les liens des Pléiades, ou détacher les cordes d'Orion ? Canst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, or loosen the cords of Orion? ¿Podrás tú atar los lazos de las Pléyades,
O desatarás las ligaduras de Orión?b
32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Fais-tu sortir les signes du zodiaque en leurs saisons, et mènes-tu la grande Ourse avec ses fillese ? Dost thou bring forth the constellations each in its season? or dost thou guide the Bear with her sons? ¿Sacarás tú a su tiempo las constelaciones de los cielos,
O guiarás a la Osa Mayor con sus hijos?
33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? Connais-tu les lois des cieux, ou établis-tu leur empire sur la terre ? Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? dost thou determine their rule over the earth? ¿Supiste tú las ordenanzas de los cielos?
¿Dispondrás tú de su potestad en la tierra?
34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? Peux-tu élever ta voix vers les nuages, en sorte que des torrents d'eau te couvrent ? Dost thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that floods of waters may cover thee? ¿Alzarás tú a las nubes tu voz,
Para que te cubra muchedumbre de aguas?
35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are? As-tu lancé la foudre, en sorte qu'elle soit allée et t'ait dit : Me voici ? Dost thou send forth lightnings that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are? ¿Enviarás tú los relámpagos, para que ellos vayan?
¿Y te dirán ellos: Henos aquí?
36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart? Qui a mis la sagesse dans les reins, ou qui donna l'intelligence à l'esprit ? Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the mind? ¿Quién puso la sabiduría en el corazón?
¿O quién dio al espíritu inteligencia?
37 Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven, Qui a compté les nuages dans [sa] sagesse ? et qui verse les outres des cieux, Who numbereth the clouds with wisdom? or who poureth out the bottles of the heavens, ¿Quién puso por cuenta los cielos con sabiduría?
Y los odres de los cielos, ¿quién los hace inclinar,
38 When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together? Quand la poussière coule comme du métal en fusion et que les mottes se soudent entre elles ? When the dust runneth as into a molten mass, and the clods cleave fast together? Cuando el polvo se ha convertido en dureza,
Y los terrones se han pegado unos con otros?
39 Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions, Dost thou hunt the prey for the lioness, and dost thou satisfy the appetite of the young lions, ¿Cazarás tú la presa para el león?
¿Saciarás el hambre de los leoncillos,
40 When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait? When they crouch in their dens, and abide in the thicket to lie in wait? Cuando están echados en las cuevas,
O se están en sus guaridas para acechar?
41 Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat. Who provideth for the raven his food, when his young ones cry unto *God, and they wander for lack of meat? ¿Quién prepara al cuervo su alimento,
Cuando sus polluelos claman a Dios,
Y andan errantes por falta de comida?
