1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? J'ai fait alliance avec mes yeux : et comment eussé-je arrêté mes regards sur une vierge ? I made a covenant with mine eyes; and how should I fix my regard upon a maid? Hice pacto con mis ojos;
¿Cómo, pues, había yo de mirar a una virgen?
2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Et quelle eût été d'en haut [ma] portion de la part de †Dieu, et, des hauts lieux, [mon] héritage de la part du Tout-puissant ? For what would have been my portion of +God from above, and what the heritage of the Almighty from on high? Porque ¿qué galardón me daría de arriba Dios,
Y qué heredad el Omnipotente desde las alturas?
3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? La calamité n'est-elle pas pour l'inique, et le malheur pour ceux qui pratiquent le mal ? Is not calamity for the unrighteous? and misfortune for the workers of iniquity? ¿No hay quebrantamiento para el impío,
Y extrañamiento para los que hacen iniquidad?
4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps? Lui, ne voit-il pas mon chemin, et ne compte-t-il point tous mes pas ? Doth not he see my ways, and number all my steps? ¿No ve él mis caminos,
Y cuenta todos mis pasos?
5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit; Si j'ai marché avec fausseté, si mes pieds se sont hâtés vers la fraude, If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot hath hasted to deceit, Si anduve con mentira,
Y si mi pie se apresuró a engaño,
6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity. Qu'il me pèse dans la balance de justice, et †Dieu reconnaîtra ma perfectiona. (Let me be weighed in an even balance, and +God will take knowledge of my blamelessness;) Péseme Dios en balanzas de justicia,
Y conocerá mi integridad.
7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands; Si mon pas s'est détourné du chemin, et si mon cœur a suivi mes yeux, et si quelque souillure s'est attachée à ma main, If my step have turned out of the way, and my heart followed mine eyes, and if any blot cleaveth to my hands; Si mis pasos se apartaron del camino,
Si mi corazón se fue tras mis ojos,
Y si algo se pegó a mis manos,
8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out. Que je sème et qu'un autre mange, et que mes rejetons soient déracinés !… Let me sow, and another eat; and let mine offspring be rooted out. Siembre yo, y otro coma,
Y sea arrancada mi siembra.
9 If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door; Si mon cœur s'est laissé attirer vers une femme et que j'aie fait le guet à la porte de mon prochain, If my heart have been enticed unto a woman, so that I laid wait at my neighbour's door, Si fue mi corazón engañado acerca de mujer,
Y si estuve acechando a la puerta de mi prójimo,
10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her. Que ma femme tourne la meule pour un autre, et que d'autres se penchent sur elle ; Let my wife grind for another, and let others bow down upon her. Muela para otro mi mujer,
Y sobre ella otros se encorven.
11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges. Car c'est là une infamie, et une iniquité punissable par les juges : For this is an infamy; yea, it is an iniquity to be judged by the judges: Porque es maldad e iniquidad
Que han de castigar los jueces.
12 For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase. Car c'est un feu qui dévore jusque dans l'abîmeb et qui détruirait par la racine tout mon revenu… For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase. Porque es fuego que devoraría hasta el Abadón,
Y consumiría toda mi hacienda.
13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me; Si j'ai méprisé le droit de mon serviteur ou de ma servante quand ils contestaient avec moi, If I have despised the cause of my bondman or of my bondmaid, when they contended with me, Si hubiera tenido en poco el derecho de mi siervo y de mi sierva,
Cuando ellos contendían conmigo,
14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him? Que ferais-je quand ∗Dieu se lèverait ? et s'il me visitait, que lui répondrais-je ? What then should I do when *God riseth up? and if he visited, what should I answer him? ¿Qué haría yo cuando Dios se levantase?
Y cuando él preguntara, ¿qué le respondería yo?
15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb? Celui qui m'a fait dans le sein de ma mère, ne les a-t-il pas faits [eux aussi], et un seul et même [Dieu] ne nous a-t-il pas formés dans la matrice ? … Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not One fashion us in the womb? El que en el vientre me hizo a mí, ¿no lo hizo a él?
¿Y no nos dispuso uno mismo en la matriz?
16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; Si j'ai refusé aux misérables leur désir, si j'ai fait défaillir les yeux de la veuve ; If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or caused the eyes of the widow to fail; Si estorbé el contento de los pobres,
E hice desfallecer los ojos de la viuda;
17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof; Si j'ai mangé seul mon morceau, et que l'orphelin n'en ait pas mangé ; — Or have eaten my morsel alone, so that the fatherless ate not thereof, Si comí mi bocado solo,
Y no comió de él el huérfano
18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;) Car dès ma jeunesse il m'a honoré comme un père, et dès le ventre de ma mère j'ai soutenu la [veuve] ; … (For from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, and I have guided the widow from my mother's womb;) (Porque desde mi juventud creció conmigo como con un padre,
Y desde el vientre de mi madre fui guía de la viuda);
19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; Si j'ai vu quelqu'un périr faute de vêtement, et le pauvre manquer de couverture ; If I have seen any perishing for want of clothing, or any needy without covering; Si he visto que pereciera alguno sin vestido,
Y al menesteroso sin abrigo;
20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; Si ses reins ne m'ont pas béni, et qu'il ne se soit pas réchauffé avec la toison de mes agneaux ; If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my lambs; Si no me bendijeron sus lomos,
Y del vellón de mis ovejas se calentaron;
21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate: Si j'ai secoué ma main contre un orphelin, parce que je voyais mon appui dans la portec : If I have lifted up my hand against an orphan, because I saw my help in the gate: Si alcé contra el huérfano mi mano,
Aunque viese que me ayudaran en la puerta;
22 Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone. Que mon épaule se démette de sa jointure, et que mon bras cassé se détache de l'os ! Then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone! Mi espalda se caiga de mi hombro,
Y el hueso de mi brazo sea quebrado.
23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure. Car la calamité de la part de ∗Dieu m'était une frayeur, et devant sa grandeurd je ne pouvais rien…. For calamity from *God was a terror to me, and by reason of his excellency I was powerless. Porque temí el castigo de Dios,
Contra cuya majestad yo no tendría poder.
24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence; Si j'ai mis ma confiance dans l'or, si j'ai dit à l'or fin : C'est à toi que je me fie ; If I have made gold my hope, or said to the fine gold, My confidence! Si puse en el oro mi esperanza,
Y dije al oro: Mi confianza eres tú;
25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much; Si je me suis réjoui de ce que mes biens étaient grands, et de ce que ma main avait beaucoup acquis ; If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much; Si me alegré de que mis riquezas se multiplicasen,
Y de que mi mano hallase mucho;
26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; Si j'ai vu le soleile quand il brillait, et la lune quand elle marchait dans sa splendeur, If I beheld the sun when it shone, or the moon walking in brightness, Si he mirado al sol cuando resplandecía,
O a la luna cuando iba hermosa,
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: Et que mon cœur ait été séduit en secret, et que ma bouche ait baisé ma main, — And my heart have been secretly enticed, so that my mouth kissed my hand: Y mi corazón se engañó en secreto,
Y mi boca besó mi mano;
28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. Cela aussi serait une iniquité punissable par le juge, car j'aurais renié le ∗Dieu qui est en haut ; … This also would be an iniquity for the judge, for I should have denied the *God who is above. Esto también sería maldad juzgada;
Porque habría negado al Dios soberano.
29 If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him: Si je me suis réjoui dans la calamité de celui qui me haïssait, si j'ai été ému de joie lorsquef le malheur l'a trouvé ; — If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, and exulted when evil befell him; Si me alegré en el quebrantamiento del que me aborrecía,
Y me regocijé cuando le halló el mal
30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul. Même je n'ai pas permis à ma boucheg de pécher, de demander sa vie par une exécration ; … (Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse;) (Ni aun entregué al pecado mi lengua,
Pidiendo maldición para su alma);
31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied. Si les gens de ma tente n'ont pas dit : Qui trouvera quelqu'un qui n'ait pas été rassasié de la chair de ses bêtesh ? — If the men of my tent said not, Who shall find one that hath not been satisfied with his meat? -- Si mis siervos no decían:
¿Quién no se ha saciado de su carne?
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller. L'étranger ne passait pas la nuit dehors, j'ouvrais ma porte sur le chemin ; … The stranger did not lodge without; I opened my doors to the pathway. (El forastero no pasaba fuera la noche;
Mis puertas abría al caminante);
33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom: Si j'ai couvert ma transgression comme Adam, en cachant mon iniquité dans mon sein, If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom, Si encubrí como hombre mis transgresiones,
Escondiendo en mi seno mi iniquidad,
34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door? Parce que je craignais la grande multitude, et que le mépris des familles me faisait peur, et que je sois resté dans le silence et ne sois pas sorti de ma porte…. Because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and went not out of the door, ... Porque tuve temor de la gran multitud,
Y el menosprecio de las familias me atemorizó,
Y callé, y no salí de mi puerta;
35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book. Oh ! si j'avais quelqu'un pour m'écouter ! Voici ma signature. Que le Tout-puissant me réponde, et que ma partie adverse fasse un écrit ! Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my signature: let the Almighty answer me! And let mine opponent write an accusation! ¡Quién me diera quien me oyese!
He aquí mi confianza es que el Omnipotente testificará por mí,
Aunque mi adversario me forme proceso.
36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me. Ne le porterais-je pas sur mon épaule ? Ne le lierais-je pas sur moi comme une couronne ? Would I not take it upon my shoulder? I would bind it on to me as a crown; Ciertamente yo lo llevaría sobre mi hombro,
Y me lo ceñiría como una corona.
37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him. Je lui déclarerais le nombre de mes pas ; comme un prince je m'approcherais de lui…. I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I come near to him. Yo le contaría el número de mis pasos,
Y como príncipe me presentaría ante él.
38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain; Si ma terre crie contre moi, et que ses sillons pleurent ensemble, If my land cry out against me, and its furrows weep together; Si mi tierra clama contra mí,
Y lloran todos sus surcos;
39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life: Si j'en ai mangé le revenu sans argent, et que j'aie tourmenté à morti l'âme de ses possesseurs, If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, and have tormented to death the souls of its owners: Si comí su sustancia sin dinero,
O afligí el alma de sus dueños,
40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended. Que les épines croissent au lieu de froment, et l'ivraie au lieu d'orge !
