Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. |
Allons, soyons prudents à son égard, de peur qu'il ne se multiplie, et que, s'il arrivait une guerre, il ne se joigne, lui aussi, à nos ennemis, et ne fasse la guerre contre nous, et ne monte hors du pays. |

Come on, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass that, if war occur, they take side with our enemies and fight against us, and go up out of the land. |

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. |
Et ils établirent sur lui des chefs de corvées pour l'opprimer par leurs fardeaux. Et il bâtit pour le Pharaon des villes à greniersb, Pithom et Ramsès. |

And they set over them service-masters to oppress them with their burdens. And they built store-cities for Pharaoh, Pithom and Rameses. |
Entonces pusieron sobre ellos comisarios de tributos que los molestasen con sus cargas; y edificaron para Faraón las ciudades de almacenaje, Pitón y Ramesés. |

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. |

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. |
et ils leur rendirent la vie amère par un dur service, en argile, et en briques, et par toute sorte de service aux champs : tout le service dans lequel on les faisait servir était avec dureté. |

and they embittered their life with hard labour in clay and bricks, and in all manner of labour in the field: all their labour with which they made them serve was with harshness. |
y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigor. |

And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: |
Et le roi d'Égypte parla aux sages-femmes hébreues, dont l'une avait nom Shiphra et la seconde se nommait Pua, |

And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. |
et il dit : Quand vous accoucherez les femmes hébreues et que vous les verrez sur les siègesd, si c'est un fils, vous le ferez mourir, et si c'est une fille, elle vivra. |

Cuando asistáis a las hebreas en sus partos, y veáis el sexo, si es hijo, matadlo; y si es hija, entonces viva. |

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. |

Et le roi d'Égypte appela les sages-femmes, et leur dit : Pourquoi avez-vous fait cela, et avez-vous laissé vivre les enfants mâles ? |

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. |
Et les sages-femmes dirent au Pharaon : Parce que les femmes hébreues ne sont pas comme les Égyptiennes ; car elles sont vigoureuses : avant que la sage-femme vienne vers elles, elles ont enfanté. |

And the midwives said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian; for they are strong, and they have borne before the midwife comes to them. |
Y las parteras respondieron a Faraón: Porque las mujeres hebreas no son como las egipcias; pues son robustas, y dan a luz antes que la partera venga a ellas. |

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. |
Et Dieu fit du bien aux sages-femmes ; et le peuple multiplia, et devint très-fort. |
