Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: |

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. |
comme il est juste que je pense ainsi de vous tous, parce que vous m'avez dans votre cœur, et que, dans mes liens et dans la défense et la confirmation de l'évangile, vous avez tous été participants de la grâce avec moi. |

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. |

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; |

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; |

so that my bonds have become manifest as being in Christ in all the praetorium and to all others; |

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. |

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: |

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: |

These indeed out of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the glad tidings; |

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. |

but those out of contention, announce the Christ, not purely, supposing to arouse tribulation for my bonds. |

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. |

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, |

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. |
selon ma viveg attente et mon espérance que je ne serai confus en rien, mais qu'avec toute hardiesse, maintenant encore comme toujours, Christ sera magnifié dans mon corps, soit par la vie, soit par la mort. |
según mi ardiente expectación y esperanza, que en nada seré avergonzado; sino que, con todo denuedo, como siempre, ahora también Cristo será magnificado en mi cuerpo, ya sea que yo viva o que muera. |

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. |

but if to live in flesh is my lot , this is for me worth the while: and what I shall choose I cannot tell. |

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: |

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; |

and having confidence of this, I know that I shall remain and abide along with you all, for your progress and joy in faith; |

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. |

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; |
Seulement conduisez-vous d'une manière digne de l'évangile du Christ, afin que, soit que je vienne et que je vous voie, soit que je sois absent, j'apprenne à votre sujet que vous tenez ferme dans un seul et même esprit, combattant ensemble d'une même âme, avec la foi de l'évangile, |
Solamente, comportaos de manera digna del evangelio de Cristo; para que, sea que venga y os vea, sea que esté ausente, oiga hablar de vuestro estado, que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, con una sola alma, luchando juntos por la fe del evangelio, |
Only conduct yourselves worthily of the glad tidings of the Christ, in order that whether coming and seeing you, or absent, I may hear of what concerns you, that ye stand firm in one spirit, with one soul, labouring together in the same conflict with the faith of the glad tidings; |
Solamente que os comportéis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo, para que o sea que vaya a veros, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, combatiendo unánimes por la fe del evangelio, |

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. |
et n'étant en rien épouvantés par les adversaires : ce qui pour eux est une démonstration de perdition, mais de votre salut, et cela de la part de Dieu : |
y en nada aterrados por los adversarios: lo cual para ellos es señal evidente de perdición, y para vosotros de salvación, y esto de parte de Dios. |
and not frightened in anything by the opposers, which is to them a demonstration of destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God; |
y en nada intimidados por los que se oponen, que para ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas para vosotros de salvación; y esto de Dios. |

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; |
parce qu'à vous, il a été gratuitement donné, par rapport ài Christ, non seulement de croire en lui, mais aussi de souffrir pour lui, |

Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me. |
