1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, Et Job reprit son discours sentencieux et dit : And Job continued his parable and said, Volvió Job a reanudar su discurso, y dijo:
2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me; Oh ! que ne suis-je comme aux mois d'autrefois, comme aux jours où †Dieu me gardait ; Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when +God preserved me; ¡Quién me volviese como en los meses pasados,
3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness; Quand sa clartéa luisait sur ma tête, et que dans les ténèbres je marchais à sa lumière ; When his lamp shone over my head, and by his light I walked through darkness; Cuando hacía resplandecer sobre mi cabeza su lámpara,
A cuya luz yo caminaba en la oscuridad;
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle; Comme j'étais aux jours de mon automneb, quand le conseil secret de †Dieu présidait sur ma tente ; As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret counsel of +God was over my tent, Como fui en los días de mi juventud,
Cuando el favor de Dios velaba sobre mi tienda;
5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me; Quand le Tout-puissant était encore avec moi, [et] que mes jeunes gens m'entouraient ; When the Almighty was yet with me, my young men round about me; Cuando aún estaba conmigo el Omnipotente,
Y mis hijos alrededor de mí;
6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; Quand je lavais mes pas dans le cailléc, et que le rocher versait auprès de moi des ruisseaux d'huile ! — When my steps were bathed in milk, and the rock poured out beside me rivers of oil! ...
7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! Quand je sortais [pour aller] à la porte par la ville, quand je préparais mon siège sur la place : When I went out to the gate by the city, when I prepared my seat on the broadway, Cuando yo salía a la puerta a juicio,
8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up. Les jeunes gens me voyaient et se cachaient, et les vieillards se levaient [et] se tenaient debout ; The young men saw me, and hid themselves; and the aged arose and stood up; Los jóvenes me veían, y se escondían;
9 The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. Les princes s'abstenaient de parler et mettaient la main sur leur bouche, Princes refrained from talking, and laid the hand on their mouth; Los príncipes detenían sus palabras;
Ponían la mano sobre su boca.
10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth. The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue cleaved to their palate.
11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: Quand l'oreille m'entendait, elle m'appelait bienheureux ; quand l'œil me voyait, il me rendait témoignage ; When the ear heard me , then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me , it gave witness to me; Los oídos que me oían me llamaban bienaventurado,
12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. For I delivered the afflicted that cried, and the fatherless who had no helper. Porque yo libraba al pobre que clamaba,
Y al huérfano que carecía de ayudador.
13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. The blessing of him that was perishing came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. Je me vêtais de la justice, et elle me revêtaite ; ma droiture m'était comme un manteauf et un turban. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was as a mantle and a turban. Me vestía de justicia, y ella me cubría;
Como manto y diadema era mi rectitud.
15 I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame; Yo era ojos al ciego,
Y pies al cojo.
16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out. I was a father to the needy, and the cause which I knew not I searched out; A los menesterosos era padre,
Y de la causa que no entendía, me informaba con diligencia;
17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. And I broke the jaws of the unrighteous, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand. Et je disais : J'expirerai dans mon nid, et mes jours seront nombreux comme le sable ; And I said, I shall die in my nest, and multiply my days as the sand; Decía yo: En mi nido moriré,
Y como arena multiplicaré mis días.
19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch. My root shall be spread out to the waters, and the dew will lie all night on my branch; Mi raíz estaba abierta junto a las aguas,
Y en mis ramas permanecía el rocío.
20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand. My glory shall be fresh in me, and my bow be renewed in my hand.
21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel. On m'écoutait et on attendait, et on se taisait pour [avoir] mon conseil ; Unto me they listened, and waited, and kept silence for my counsel: Me oían, y esperaban,
Y callaban a mi consejo.
22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them. Après que j'avais parlé on ne répliquait pas, et mon discours distillait sur eux ; After my words they spoke not again, and my speech dropped upon them; Tras mi palabra no replicaban,
Y mi razón destilaba sobre ellos.
23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. And they waited for me as for the rain, and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down. Si je leur souriais, ils ne le croyaient pasg, et ils ne troublaient pas la sérénité de ma face. If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and they troubled not the serenity of my countenance. Si me reía con ellos, no lo creían;
25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners. Je choisissais pour eux le chemin et je m'asseyais à leur tête, et je demeurais comme un roi au milieu d'une troupe, comme quelqu'un qui console les affligés. I chose their way, and sat as chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth mourners. Calificaba yo el camino de ellos, y me sentaba entre ellos como el jefe;
