1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, ☆ Et Éliphaz, le Thémanite, répondit et dit : And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, Entonces respondió Elifaz temanita, y dijo:
2 If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking? Si nous essayons de t'adresser une parole, en seras-tu irrité ? Mais qui pourrait se retenir de parler ? If a word were essayed to thee, wouldest thou be grieved? But who can refrain from speaking? Si probáremos a hablarte, te será molesto;
Pero ¿quién podrá detener las palabras?
3 Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. Voici, tu en as enseigné beaucoup, et tu as fortifié les mains languissantes ; Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands; He aquí, tú enseñabas a muchos,
Y fortalecías las manos débiles;
4 Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. Tes paroles ont tenu droit celui qui chancelait, et tu as affermi les genoux qui ployaient ; Thy words have upholden him that was stumbling, and thou hast braced up the bending knees: Al que tropezaba enderezaban tus palabras,
Y esforzabas las rodillas que decaían.
5 But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. Mais maintenant [le malheur] est venu sur toi, et tu es irrité ; il t'atteint, et tu es troublé. But now it is come upon thee, and thou grievest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. Mas ahora que el mal ha venido sobre ti, te desalientas;
Y cuando ha llegado hasta ti, te turbas.
6 Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways? Ta crainte [de Dieu] n'est-elle pas ta confiance, et l'intégritéa de tes voies, ton espérance ? Hath not thy piety been thy confidence, and the perfection of thy ways thy hope? ¿No es tu temor a Dios tu confianza?
¿No es tu esperanza la integridad de tus caminos?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off? ✱ Souviens-toi, je te prie, qui a péri étant innocent ? et où les hommes droits ont-ils été détruits ? Remember, I pray thee, who that was innocent has perished? and where were the upright cut off? Recapacita ahora; ¿qué inocente se ha perdido?
Y ¿en dónde han sido destruidos los rectos?
8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. Selon ce que j'ai vu, ceux qui labourent l'iniquité et qui sèment la misère, la moissonnent. Even as I have seen, they that plough iniquity and sow mischief, reap the same. Como yo he visto, los que aran iniquidad

Mas mi oído ha percibido algo de ello.

Cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres,
14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. La frayeur vint sur moi, et le frisson, et elle fit trembler la multitude de mes os ; Fear came on me, and trembling, and made all my bones to shake; Me sobrevino un espanto y un temblor,
Que estremeció todos mis huesos;
15 Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: Et un esprit passa devant moi : les cheveux de ma chair se dressèrent. And a spirit passed before my face--the hair of my flesh stood up-- Y al pasar un espíritu por delante de mí,
Hizo que se erizara el pelo de mi cuerpo.
16 It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, Il se tint là ; je ne reconnus pas son apparence : une forme était devant mes yeux. Cuyo rostro yo no conocí,
Y quedo, oí que decía:
17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Un mortel sera-t-il plus juste que †Dieu, l'homme sera-t-il plus pur que celui qui l'a fait ? Shall mortal man be more just than +God? Shall a man be purer than his Maker? ¿Será el hombre más justo que Dios?
¿Será el varón más limpio que el que lo hizo?
18 Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly: Voici, il ne se fie pas à ses serviteurs, et ses anges il les charge de folie ; Lo, he trusteth not his servants, and his angels he chargeth with folly: He aquí, en sus siervos no confía,
Y notó necedad en sus ángeles;
19 How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth? Combien plus à ceux qui habitent dans des maisons d'argile dont le fondement est dans la poussière, qui sont écrasés comme la teigne ! How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed as the moth! ¡Cuánto más en los que habitan en casas de barro,
Cuyos cimientos están en el polvo,
Y que serán quebrantados por la polilla!
20 They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it. Du matin au soir, ils sont frappés ; ils périssent pour toujours sans qu'on y fasse attention. From morning to evening are they smitten: without any heeding it, they perish for ever. De la mañana a la tarde son destruidos,
Y se pierden para siempre, sin haber quien repare en ello.
21 Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom. Leurs cordesb ne leur sont-elles pas arrachées ? Ils meurent, et sans sagesse. Is not their tent-cord torn away in them? they die, and without wisdom. Su hermosura, ¿no se pierde con ellos mismos?
Y mueren sin haber adquirido sabiduría.
