And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his sack’s mouth. And he commanded him who was over his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry; and put every man's money in the mouth of his sack.
And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack’s mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain-money. And he did according to the word of Joseph which he had spoken.
As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses. In the morning, when it was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good? They were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, when Joseph said to him who was over his house, Up! follow after the men; and when thou overtakest them, thou shalt say to them, Why have ye rewarded evil for good?
Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing. Is not this it in which my lord drinks, and in which indeed he divines? Ye have done evil in what ye have done.
And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words. And he overtook them, and he spoke to them these words.
And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing: Et ils lui dirent : Pourquoi mon seigneur parle-t-il ainsi ? And they said to him, Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from thy servants to do such a thing! Nunca tal hagan tus siervos.
Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold? Behold, the money that we found in our sacks' mouths we have brought again to thee from the land of Canaan; and how should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?
With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen. With whomsoever of thy servants it is found, let him die; and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless. And he said, Now also let it be according to your words: let him with whom it is found be my bondman, but ye shall be blameless.
Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack. And they hasted and laid down every man his sack on the ground, and opened every man his sack.
And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack. And he searched carefully: he began at the eldest, and ended at the youngest; and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city. Then they rent their clothes, and loaded every man his ass, and they returned to the city.
And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph’s house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground. And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; and he was still there; and they fell down before him to the ground.
And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine? And Joseph said to them, What deed is this which ye have done? Did ye not know that such a man as I can certainly divine?
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found. And Judah said, What shall we say to my lord? what shall we speak, and how justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of thy servants; behold, we are my lord's bondmen, both we, and he in whose hand the cup has been found. Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos a mi señor?
And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father. And he said, Far be it from me to do so! The man in whose hand the cup has been found, he shall be my bondman; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.
Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh. Then Judah came near to him, and said, Ah! my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant; for thou art even as Pharaoh.
My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother? My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother? Mi señor preguntó a sus siervos, diciendo: ¿Tenéis padre o hermano?
And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him. And we said to my lord, We have an aged father, and a child born to him in his old age, yet young; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.
And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him. And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down to me, that I may set mine eye on him. Y tú dijiste a tus siervos: Traédmelo, y pondré mis ojos sobre él.
And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die. And we said to my lord, The youth cannot leave his father: if he should leave his father, his father would die.
And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more. And thou saidst to thy servants, Unless your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord. And it came to pass when we came up to thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food. And our father said, Go again, buy us a little food.
And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us. mais nous dîmes : Nous ne pouvons descendre. But we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down; for we cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.
And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons: Et ton serviteur, mon père, nous dit : Vous savez que ma femme m'a enfanté deux [fils] ; And thy servant my father said to us, Ye know that my wife bore me two sons ; Entonces tu siervo mi padre nos dijo: Vosotros sabéis que dos hijos me dio a luz mi mujer;
And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since: et l'un s'en est allé d'avec moi, et j'ai dit : Certainement il a été déchiré ; et je ne l'ai pas revu jusqu'à présent. and the one went out from me, and I said, He must certainly have been torn in pieces; and I have not seen him again hitherto. y el uno salió de mi presencia, y pienso de cierto que fue despedazado, y hasta ahora no lo he visto.
And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. And if ye take this one also from me, and mischief should befall him, ye will bring down my grey hairs with misery to Sheol.
Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad’s life; Et maintenant, si je viens vers ton serviteur, mon père, et que le jeune homme à l'âme duquel son âme est étroitement liée ne soit pas avec nous, And now, when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad is not with us, --seeing that his life is bound up with his life, Ahora, pues, cuando vuelva yo a tu siervo mi padre, si el joven no va conmigo, como su vida está ligada a la vida de él,
It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave. il arrivera qu'il mourra en voyant que le jeune homme n'y est pas ; et tes serviteurs feront descendre les cheveux blancs de ton serviteur, notre père, avec douleur au shéol. it will come to pass when he sees that the lad is not there , that he will die; and thy servants will bring down the grey hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to Sheol. sucederá que cuando no vea al joven, morirá; y tus siervos harán descender las canas de tu siervo nuestro padre con dolor al Seol.
For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever. Car ton serviteur a répondu du jeune homme auprès de mon père, en disant : Si je ne te le ramène, je serai coupable envers mon père tous mesd jours. For thy servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, If I bring him not to thee, then I shall be guilty toward my father all my days. Como tu siervo salió por fiador del joven con mi padre, diciendo: Si no te lo vuelvo a traer, entonces yo seré culpable ante mi padre para siempre;
Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren. Et maintenant, que ton serviteur, je te prie, reste serviteur de mon seigneur, à la place du jeune homme, et le jeune homme montera avec ses frères ; And now, let thy servant stay, I pray thee, instead of the lad a bondman to my lord, and let the lad go up with his brethren; te ruego, por tanto, que quede ahora tu siervo en lugar del joven por siervo de mi señor, y que el joven vaya con sus hermanos.
For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father. car comment monterai-je vers mon père, si le jeune homme n'est pas avec moi ? — de peur que je ne voie le malheur qui atteindrait mon père ! for how should I go up to my father if the lad were not with me? --lest I see the evil that would come on my father.
