Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? |
☆ Et Jacob vit qu'il y avait du blé en Égypte ; et Jacob dit à ses fils : Pourquoi vous regardez-vous les uns les autres ? |

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die. |
Et il dit : Voici, j'ai appris qu'il y a du blé en Égypte ; descendez-y, et achetez-nous-en là, afin que nous vivions, et que nous ne mourions pas. |

But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him. |

And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. |
Et Joseph était gouverneur du pays ; il vendait le blé à tout le peuple du paysa. Et les frères de Joseph vinrent, et se prosternèrent devant lui la face contre terre. |

And Joseph, he was the governor over the land--he it was that sold the corn to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brethren came and bowed down to him, the face to the earth. |
Y José era el señor de la tierra, quien le vendía a todo el pueblo de la tierra; y llegaron los hermanos de José, y se inclinaron a él rostro a tierra. |

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. |
Et Joseph vit ses frères, et les reconnut ; et il fit l'étranger vis-à-vis d'eux, et leur parla durement, et leur dit : D'où venez-vous ? Et ils dirent : Du pays de Canaan, pour acheter des vivres. |

And Joseph saw his brethren, and knew them; but he made himself strange to them, and spoke roughly to them, and said to them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan, to buy food. |
Y José, cuando vio a sus hermanos, los conoció; mas hizo como que no los conocía, y les habló ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán, para comprar alimentos. |

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. |
Et Joseph se souvint des songes qu'il avait songés à leur sujet, et il leur dit : Vous êtes des espions ; c'est pour voir les lieux ouvertsb du pays que vous êtes venus. |

And Joseph remembered the dreams that he had dreamt of them; and he said to them, Ye are spies: to see the exposed places of the land ye are come. |
Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido acerca de ellos,b y les dijo: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido. |

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. |
Et ils lui dirent : Non, mon seigneur ; mais tes serviteurs sont venus pour acheter des vivres. |

And they said to him, No, my lord; but to buy food are thy servants come. |
Ellos le respondieron: No, señor nuestro, sino que tus siervos han venido a comprar alimentos. |

We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies. |
Nous sommes tous fils d'un seul homme ; nous sommes d'honnêtes gens ; tes serviteurs ne sont pas des espions. |

Todos nosotros somos hijos de un varón; somos hombres honrados; tus siervos nunca fueron espías. |

And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. |
Et il leur dit : Non ; mais vous êtes venus pour voir les lieux ouverts du pays. |

And he said to them, No; but to see the exposed places of the land are ye come. |
Pero José les dijo: No; para ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido. |

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. |
Et ils dirent : Tes serviteurs étaient douze frères ; nous sommes fils d'un seul homme, au pays de Canaan ; et voici, le plus jeune est aujourd'hui avec notre père, et l'un n'est plus. |

And they said, Thy servants were twelve brethren, sons of one man, in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. |
Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos somos doce hermanos, hijos de un varón en la tierra de Canaán; y he aquí el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y otro no parece. |

And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies: |
Et Joseph leur dit : C'est ce que je vous disais, en disant : Vous êtes des espions. |

And Joseph said to them, That is it that I have spoken to you, saying, Ye are spies. |
Y José les dijo: Eso es lo que os he dicho, afirmando que sois espías. |

Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. |
Par ceci vous serez mis à l'épreuve : Vie du Pharaon ! si vous sortez d'ici, à moins que votre jeune frère ne vienne ici ! |

By this ye shall be put to the proof: as Pharaoh lives, ye shall not go forth hence, unless your youngest brother come hither! |
En esto seréis probados: Vive Faraón, que no saldréis de aquí, sino cuando vuestro hermano menor viniere aquí. |

Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies. |
Envoyez l'un de vous, et qu'il aille chercher votre frère ; et vous, vous serez liés, et vos paroles seront mises à l'épreuve, [pour voir] si la vérité est avec vous : sinon, vie du Pharaon ! certainement vous êtes des espions. |

Send one of you, that he may fetch your brother, but ye shall be imprisoned, and your words shall be put to the proof, whether the truth is in you; and if not, as Pharaoh lives, ye are spies. |
Enviad a uno de vosotros y traiga a vuestro hermano, y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad en vosotros; y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías. |

And he put them all together into ward three days. |
Et il les fit mettre ensemble sous garde pendant trois jours. |

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God: |
Et, le troisième jour, Joseph leur dit : Faites ceci, et vous vivrez ; moi je crains Dieu. |

And Joseph said to them the third day, This do, that ye may live: I fear God. |
Y al tercer día les dijo José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo a Dios. |

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses: |
Si vous êtes d'honnêtes gens, l'un de vous, qui êtes frères, sera lié dans la maison où vous avez été sous garde ; et vous, allez, emportez du blé pour la faim de vos maisons ; |

If ye are honest, let one of your brethren remain bound in the house of your prison, but go ye, carry grain for the hunger of your households; |
Si sois hombres honrados, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos, y vosotros id y llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestra casa. |

But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so. |
et amenez-moi le plus jeune de vos frères, et vos paroles se trouveront vraies ; et vous ne mourrez pas. Et ils firent ainsi. |

and bring your youngest brother to me, in order that your words be verified, and that ye may not die. And they did so. |
Pero traeréis a vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así. |

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. |
Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Certainement nous sommes coupables à l'égard de notre frère ; car nous avons vu la détresse de son âme quand il nous demandait grâce, et nous ne l'avons pas écouté ; c'est pourquoi cette détresse est venue sur nous. |

Then they said one to another, We are indeed guilty concerning our brother, whose anguish of soul we saw when he besought us, and we did not hearken; therefore this distress is come upon us. |
Y decían el uno al otro: Verdaderamente hemos pecado contra nuestro hermano, pues vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no le escuchamos; por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia. |

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required. |
Et Ruben leur répondit, disant : Ne vous ai-je pas parlé, disant : Ne péchez pas contre l'enfant ? Mais vous n'avez pas écouté ; et aussi, voici, son sang est redemandé. |

And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not sin against the lad? But ye did not hearken; and now behold, his blood also is required. |
Entonces Rubén les respondió, diciendo: ¿No os hablé yo y dije: No pequéis contra el joven,c y no escuchasteis? He aquí también se nos demanda su sangre. |

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter. |
Et ils ne savaient pas que Joseph comprenait, car il y avait entre eux un interprète. |

And they did not know that Joseph understood, for the interpreter was between them. |
Pero ellos no sabían que los entendía José, porque había intérprete entre ellos. |

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes. |
Et il se détourna d'auprès d'eux, et pleura ; et il revint vers eux, et leur parla, et prit d'avec eux Siméon, et le lia devant leurs yeux. |

And he turned away from them, and wept. And he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes. |
Y se apartó José de ellos, y lloró; después volvió a ellos, y les habló, y tomó de entre ellos a Simeón, y lo aprisionó a vista de ellos. |

Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them. |
Et Joseph commanda de remplir de blé leurs sacsc, et de leur remettre leur argent à chacun dans son sac, et de leur donner des provisions pour le chemin ; et on leur fit ainsi. |

And Joseph gave orders to fill their vessels with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way. And thus did they to them. |
Después mandó José que llenaran sus sacos de trigo, y devolviesen el dinero de cada uno de ellos, poniéndolo en su saco, y les diesen comida para el camino; y así se hizo con ellos. |

And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence. |
Et ils chargèrent leur blé sur leurs ânes, et s'en allèrent de là. |

Y ellos pusieron su trigo sobre sus asnos, y se fueron de allí. |

And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack’s mouth. |
Et l'un [d'eux] ouvrit son sac pour donner à manger à son âne, dans le caravansérail, et il vit son argent, et voici, il était à l'ouverture de son sac. |

Pero abriendo uno de ellos su saco para dar de comer a su asno en el mesón, vio su dinero que estaba en la boca de su costal. |

And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us? |
Et il dit à ses frères : Mon argent m'a été rendu ; et même, le voici dans mon sac ! Et le cœur leur manqua, et ils furent saisis de peur, se disant l'un à l'autre : Qu'est-ce que Dieu nous a fait ? |

And he said to his brethren, My money is returned to me , and behold, it is even in my sack. And their heart failed them , and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God has done to us? |
Y dijo a sus hermanos: Mi dinero se me ha devuelto, y helo aquí en mi saco. Entonces se les sobresaltó el corazón, y espantados dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que nos ha hecho Dios? |

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying, |
Et ils vinrent vers Jacob, leur père, au pays de Canaan, et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qui leur était arrivé, disant : |

And they came into the land of Canaan, to Jacob their father, and told him all that had befallen them, saying, |
Y venidos a Jacob su padre en tierra de Canaán, le contaron todo lo que les había acontecido, diciendo: |

The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country. |
L'homme, le seigneur du pays, nous a parlé durement, et nous a traités comme des espions du pays ; |

And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies: |
et nous lui avons dit : Nous sommes d'honnêtes gens, nous ne sommes pas des espions. |

And we said to him, We are honest; we are not spies: |
Y nosotros le dijimos: Somos hombres honrados, nunca fuimos espías. |

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan. |
Nous étions douze frères, fils de notre père : l'un n'est plus, et le plus jeune est aujourd'hui avec notre père au pays de Canaan. |

Et l'homme, le seigneur du pays, nous a dit : À ceci je connaîtrai que vous êtes d'honnêtes gens : Laissez auprès de moi l'un de vos frères, et prenez [du blé] pour la faim de vos maisons, et allez-vous-en. |

And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, Hereby shall I know that ye are honest: leave one of your brethren with me, and take for the hunger of your households, and go, |
Entonces aquel varón, el señor de la tierra, nos dijo: En esto conoceré que sois hombres honrados: dejad conmigo uno de vuestros hermanos, y tomad para el hambre de vuestras casas, y andad, |

And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land. |
Et amenez-moi votre plus jeune frère, et je connaîtrai que vous n'êtes pas des espions, mais que vous êtes d'honnêtes gens : je vous donnerai votre frère, et vous trafiquerez dans le pays. |

and bring your youngest brother to me, and I shall know that ye are not spies, but are honest. Your brother will I give up to you; and ye may trade in the land. |
y traedme a vuestro hermano el menor, para que yo sepa que no sois espías, sino hombres honrados; así os daré a vuestro hermano, y negociaréis en la tierra. |

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid. |
Et il arriva, comme ils vidaient leurs sacs, que voici, chacun avait son paquet d'argent dans son sac ; et ils virent, eux et leur père, leurs paquets d'argent, et ils eurent peur. |

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that behold, every man had his bundle of money in his sack; and they saw their bundles of money, they and their father, and were afraid. |
Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero; y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor. |

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. |
Et Jacob, leur père, leur dit : Vous m'avez privé d'enfants : Joseph n'est plus, et Siméon n'est plus, et vous voulez prendre Benjamin ! Toutes ces choses sont contre moi. |

And Jacob their father said to them, Ye have bereaved me of children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin! All these things are against me. |
Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Me habéis privado de mis hijos; José no parece, ni Simeón tampoco, y a Benjamín le llevaréis; contra mí son todas estas cosas. |

And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again. |
Et Ruben parla à son père, disant : Tu feras mourir mes deux fils si je ne te le ramène ; remets-le entre mes mains, et je te le ramènerai. |

And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, Slay my two sons if I bring him not back to thee: give him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again. |
Y Rubén habló a su padre, diciendo: Harás morir a mis dos hijos, si no te lo devuelvo; entrégalo en mi mano, que yo lo devolveré a ti. |

And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. |
Mais il dit : Mon fils ne descendra pas avec vous ; car son frère est mort, et lui seul est resté ; si quelque accident lui arrivait dans le chemin où vous allez, vous feriez descendre mes cheveux blancs avec douleur au shéold. |

But he said, My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left; and if mischief should befall him by the way in which ye go, then would ye bring down my grey hairs with sorrow to Sheol. |
Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros, pues su hermano ha muerto, y él solo ha quedado; y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor al Seol. |
