1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. Un fils sage [écoute] l'instructiona du père, mais le moqueur n'écoute pas la répréhensionb. A wise son heareth his father's instruction; but a scorner heareth not rebuke. El hijo sabio recibe el consejo del padre;
Mas el burlador no escucha las reprensiones.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. Du fruit de sa bouche l'homme mange du bien, mais l'âme des perfides [mange] la violencec. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; but the soul of the treacherous, violence. Del fruto de su boca el hombre comerá el bien;
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Qui surveille sa bouche garde son âme ; la ruine est pour celui qui ouvre ses lèvres toutes grandes. He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his soul; destruction shall be to him that openeth wide his lips. El que guarda su boca guarda su alma;
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. L'âme du paresseux désire, et il n'y a rien ; mais l'âme des diligents sera engraissée. A sluggard's soul desireth and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. El alma del perezoso desea, y nada alcanza;
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. Le juste hait la parole mensongère, mais le méchant se rend odieux et se couvre de honte. A righteous man hateth lying; but the wicked maketh himself odious and cometh to shame. El justo aborrece la palabra de mentira;
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. La justice garde celui qui est intègre dans sa voie, mais la méchanceté renverse le pécheurd. Righteousness preserveth him that is perfect in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. La justicia guarda al de perfecto camino;
Mas la impiedad trastornará al pecador.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. Tel fait le riche et n'a rien du tout ; et tel se fait pauvre et a de grands biens. There is that feigneth himself rich, and hath nothing; there is that maketh himself poor, and hath great wealth. Hay quienes pretenden ser ricos, y no tienen nada;
8 The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. La rançon pour la vie d'un homme, c'est sa richesse ; mais le pauvre n'entend pas la réprimandee. The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the indigent heareth not rebuke. El rescate de la vida del hombre está en sus riquezas;
Pero el pobre no oye censuras.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. La lumière des justes est joyeuse, mais la lampe des méchants s'éteindra. The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. La luz de los justos se alegrará;
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Ce n'est que de l'orgueil que vient la querelle, mais la sagesse est avec ceux qui se laissent conseiller. By pride there only cometh contention; but with the well-advised is wisdom. Ciertamente la soberbia concebirá contienda;
Mas con los avisados está la sabiduría.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. Les biens qui viennent de la vanité diminuent, mais celui qui amasse à la main les accroîtra. Wealth gotten by vanity diminisheth; but he that gathereth by manual-labour shall increase it . Las riquezas de vanidad disminuirán;
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. L'attente différée rend le cœur malade, mais le désir qui arrive est un arbre de vie. Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but the desire that cometh to pass is a tree of life. La esperanza que se demora es tormento del corazón;
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. Qui méprise la parole sera lié par ellef ; mais qui craint le commandement, celui-là sera récompensé. Whoso despiseth the word shall be held by it; but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. El que menosprecia el precepto perecerá por ello;
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. The teaching of the wise man is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. Le bon sens procure la faveur, mais la voie des perfides est dure. Good understanding procureth favour; but the way of the treacherous is hard. El buen entendimiento da gracia;
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. Tout homme avisé agit avec connaissance, mais le sot fait étalage de sa folie. Every prudent man acteth with knowledge; but the foolish layeth open his folly. Todo hombre prudente procede con sabiduría;
Mas el necio manifestará necedad.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. Un messager méchant tombe dans le mal, mais un ambassadeur fidèle est santé. A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health. El mal mensajero acarrea desgracia;
Mas el mensajero fiel acarrea salud.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. La pauvreté et la honte arrivent à qui rejette l'instruction, mais celui qui a égard àg la répréhension sera honoré. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. Pobreza y vergüenza tendrá el que menosprecia el consejo;
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. Le désir accompli est agréable à l'âme, mais se détourner du mal est une abomination pour les sots. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; but it is abomination to the foolish to depart from evil. El deseo cumplido regocija el alma;
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Qui marche avec les sages devient sage, mais le compagnon des sots s'en trouvera malh. He that walketh with wise men becometh wise; but a companion of the foolish will be depraved. El que anda con sabios, sabio será;
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed. Evil pursueth sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. L'homme de bien laisse un héritage aux fils de ses fils, mais la richesse du pécheur est réservée pour le juste. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous man . El bueno dejará herederos a los hijos de sus hijos;
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. Il y a beaucoup à manger dans le défrichement des pauvres, mais il y a ce qui se perdi faute de règlej. Much food is in the tillage of the poor; but there is that is lost for want of judgment. En el barbecho de los pobres hay mucho pan;
Mas se pierde por falta de juicio.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Celui qui épargne la verge hait son fils, mais celui qui l'aime met de la diligence à le discipliner. He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. El que detiene el castigo, a su hijo aborrece;
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want. Le juste mange pour le rassasiement de son âme, mais le ventre des méchants aura disette. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; but the belly of the wicked shall want. El justo come hasta saciar su alma;
