And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. |

Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? |
Alors Paul lui dit : Dieu te frappera, paroi blanchie ! Es-tu assis là pour me juger selon la loi ; et, contrairement à la loi, tu ordonnes que je sois frappé ? |

Then Paul said to him, God will smite thee, whited wall. And *thou*, dost thou sit judging me according to the law, and breaking the law commandest me to be smitten? |

Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. |

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. |
Et Paul, sachant qu'une partie [d'entre eux] étaient des sadducéens et l'autre des pharisiens, s'écria dans le sanhédrin : Hommes frères, je suis pharisien, fils de pharisien ; je suis mis en jugement pour l'espérance et la résurrection des morts. |

But Paul, knowing that the one part of them were of the Sadducees and the other of the Pharisees, cried out in the council, Brethren, *I* am a Pharisee, son of Pharisees: *I* am judged concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead. |

And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. |

And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God. |
Et il s'éleva une grande clameur ; et quelques scribes du parti des pharisiens se levèrent et contestèrent, disant : Nous ne trouvons aucun mal en cet homme ; mais si un esprit lui a parlé, ou un ange…. |

And there was a great clamour, and the scribes of the Pharisees' part rising up contended, saying, We find nothing evil in this man; and if a spirit has spoken to him, or an angel... |
Y hubo un gran vocerío; y levantándose los escribas de la parte de los fariseos, contendían, diciendo: Ningún mal hallamos en este hombre; que si un espíritu le ha hablado, o un ángel, no resistamos a Dios. |

And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle. |
Et un grand tumulte s'étant élevé, le chiliarque, craignant que Paul ne fût mis en pièces par eux, commanda à la troupe de descendre et de l'enlever du milieu d'eux et de le conduire à la forteresse. |
Hubo un gran altercado, y el comandante, temeroso de que Pablo fuese despedazado por ellos, mandó que los soldados bajaran para arrebatarlo de en medio de ellos y llevarlo a la fortaleza. |
And a great tumult having arisen, the chiliarch, fearing lest Paul should have been torn in pieces by them, commanded the troop to come down and take him by force from the midst of them, and to bring him into the fortress. |
Y habiendo grande disensión, el tribuno, teniendo temor de que Pablo fuese despedazado por ellos, mandó que bajasen soldados y le arrebatasen de en medio de ellos, y le llevasen a la fortaleza. |

And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. |
Et la nuit suivante, le Seigneur se tint près de lui et dit : Aie bon courage ; car comme tu as rendu témoignage des choses qui me regardent, à Jérusalem, ainsi il faut que tu rendes témoignage aussi à Rome. |
A la noche siguiente se puso junto a él el Señor, y dijo: Ten ánimo, porque como has dado testimonio de mí en Jerusalén, así es necesario también que des testimonio en Roma. |
But the following night the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good courage; for as thou hast testified the things concerning me at Jerusalem, so thou must bear witness at Rome also. |
A la noche siguiente se le presentó el Señor y le dijo: Ten ánimo, Pablo, pues como has testificado de mí en Jerusalén, así es necesario que testifiques también en Roma. |

And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. |
Et quand le jour fut venu, les Juifs s'unirent et s'obligèrent par un serment d'exécration, disant qu'ils ne mangeraient ni ne boiraient jusqu'à ce qu'ils eussent tué Paul. |

And when it was day, the Jews, having banded together, put themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they should kill Paul. |

And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy. |

And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. |

and they went to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have cursed ourselves with a curse to taste nothing until we kill Paul. |

Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him. |
Vous donc, maintenant, avec le sanhédrin, avertissez le chiliarque pour qu'il le fasse descendre vers vous, comme si vous vouliez vous informer plus exactement de ce qui le regarde ; et, avant qu'il approche, nous sommes prêts pour le tuer. |
Ahora, pues, vosotros con el Sanedrín solicitad al comandante que lo conduzca ante vosotros, como si fueseis a averiguar más exactamente lo que le concierne; y nosotros estaremos listos para matarle antes de que llegue. |
Now therefore do ye with the council make a representation to the chiliarch so that he may bring him down to you, as about to determine more precisely what concerns him, and we, before he draws near, are ready to kill him. |
Ahora pues, vosotros, con el concilio, requerid al tribuno que le traiga mañana ante vosotros, como que queréis indagar alguna cosa más cierta acerca de él; y nosotros estaremos listos para matarle antes que llegue. |

And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul. |
Mais le fils de la sœur de Paul, ayant ouï parler de ce guet-apens, s'en alla et entra dans la forteresse, et le rapporta à Paul. |

But Paul's sister's son, having heard of the lying in wait, came and entered into the fortress and reported it to Paul. |

Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him. |
Et Paul, ayant appelé l'un des centurions, dit : Conduis ce jeune homme au chiliarque, car il a quelque chose à lui rapporter. |

And Paul, having called one of the centurions, said, Take this youth to the chiliarch, for he has something to report to him. |

So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee. |
Il le prit donc et le conduisit au chiliarque et dit : Le prisonnier Paul m'a appelé, et m'a prié de t'amener ce jeune homme qui a quelque chose à te dire. |
Tomándole, le llevó al comandante, y dijo: Pablo, el preso, me llamó y me rogó que te trajera a este joven, pues tiene algo que decirte. |
He therefore, having taken him with him , led him to the chiliarch, and says, The prisoner Paul called me to him and asked me to lead this youth to thee, who has something to say to thee. |
Él entonces tomándole, le llevó al tribuno, y dijo: El preso Pablo me llamó y me rogó que trajese ante ti a este joven, que tiene algo que hablarte. |

Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me? |
Et le chiliarque, l'ayant pris par la main et s'étant retiré à part, lui demanda : Qu'est-ce que tu as à me rapporter ? |
El comandante lo cogió de la mano, se lo llevó aparte y le preguntó: ¿Qué es lo que me tienes que decir? |
And the chiliarch having taken him by the hand, and having gone apart in private, inquired, What is it that thou hast to report to me? |

And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly. |
Et il dit : Les Juifs se sont entendus pour te prier que demain tu fasses descendre Paul devant le sanhédrin, comme si tu voulais t'enquérir plus exactement à son sujet. |
Él contestó: Los judíos han acordado pedirte que conduzcas mañana a Pablo ante el Sanedrín, como si quisieran investigar algo más sobre él. |
And he said, The Jews have agreed together to make a request to thee, that thou mayest bring Paul down to-morrow into the council, as about to inquire something more precise concerning him. |
Él le dijo: Los judíos han convenido en rogarte que mañana lleves a Pablo ante el concilio, como que van a inquirir alguna cosa más cierta acerca de él. |

But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee. |
Toi donc n'y consens pas, car plus de quarante hommes d'entre eux lui dressent un guet-apens, lesquels se sont obligés par un serment d'exécration de ne manger ni ne boire jusqu'à ce qu'ils l'aient tué ; et ils sont maintenant prêts, attendant de toi la promesse. |
Tú, pues, no te dejes persuadir por ellos; porque están emboscados contra él más de cuarenta hombres, los cuales se han conjurado bajo maldición, a no comer ni beber hasta que lo maten; y ahora están listos, esperando tu promesa. |
Do not thou then be persuaded by them, for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have put themselves under a curse neither to eat nor drink till they kill him; and now they are ready waiting the promise from thee. |
Pero tú no les creas; porque más de cuarenta hombres de ellos le acechan, los cuales se han juramentado bajo maldición, a no comer ni beber hasta que le hayan dado muerte; y ahora están listos esperando tu promesa. |

So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me. |
Le chiliarque donc renvoya le jeune homme, lui ayant enjoint de ne divulguer à personne qu'il lui eût déclaré ces choses. |
El comandante despidió al joven, después de recomendarle no decir a nadie que le había dado esta información. |
The chiliarch then dismissed the youth, commanding him , Utter to no one that thou hast represented these things to me. |

And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Cæsarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; |
Et ayant appelé deux des centurions, il dit : Préparez deux cents soldats pour aller à Césarée, et soixante-dix cavaliers, et deux cents porte-lances, dès la troisième heure de la nuit ; |

And having called to him certain two of the centurions, he said, Prepare two hundred soldiers that they may go as far as Caesarea, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred light-armed footmen, for the third hour of the night. |
Y llamando a dos centuriones, mandó que preparasen para la hora tercera de la noche doscientos soldados, setenta jinetes y doscientos lanceros, para que fuesen hasta Cesarea; |

And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor. |
et procurez-vous des montures, afin qu'ayant mis Paul dessus ils le conduisent en sûreté auprès de Félix le gouverneur. |

And he ordered them to provide beasts, that they might set Paul on them and carry him safe through to Felix the governor, |

This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. |
Cet homme ayant été saisi par les Juifs et étant sur le point d'être tué par eux, je suis survenu avec la troupe et je l'ai délivré, ayant appris qu'il est Romain. |
Este hombre fue prendido por los judíos, e iban a matarlo cuando yo intervine con la tropa y lo arranqué de sus manos, habiendo oído que era romano. |
This man, having been taken by the Jews, and being about to be killed by them, I came up with the military and took out of their hands , having learned that he was a Roman. |

And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: |

And desiring to know the charge on which they accused him, I brought him down to their council; |

Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds. |
et j'ai trouvé qu'il était accusé touchant des questions de leur loi, mais qu'il n'était sous le coup d'aucune accusation qui méritât la mort ou les liens. |
donde hallé que era acusado sobre cuestiones de su ley, pero que ninguna acusación digna de muerte o de cárcel había contra él. |
whom I found to be accused of questions of their law, but to have no charge laid against him making him worthy of death or of bonds. |

And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell. |
Et ayant été averti des embûches que [les Juifs] allaient dresser contre cet homme, je te l'ai aussitôt envoyé, ayant donné l'ordre à ses accusateurs aussi de dire devant toi les choses qu'ils ont contre lui. Porte-toi bien. |

But having received information of a plot about to be put in execution against the man by the Jews , I have immediately sent him to thee, commanding also his accusers to say before thee the things that are against him. Farewell. |

Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris. |

Who, when they came to Cæsarea, and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him. |

And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia; |

I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall. |
