Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. |

Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. |

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. |

And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: |

But to the married I enjoin, not *I*, but the Lord, Let not wife be separated from husband; |

But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. |
(et si elle est séparée, qu'elle demeure sans être mariée, ou qu'elle se réconcilie avec son mari ;) et que le mari n'abandonne pas sa femme. |

(but if also she shall have been separated, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband;) and let not husband leave wife. |

But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. |

But as to the rest, *I* say, not the Lord, If any brother have an unbelieving wife, and *she* consent to dwell with him, let him not leave her. |

And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. |

And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband. |

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. |
Car le mari incrédule est sanctifié parb la femme, et la femme incrédule est sanctifiée parb le frère, [son mari] ; puisque autrement vos enfants seraient impurs ; mais maintenant ils sont saints. |

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother; since otherwise indeed your children are unclean, but now they are holy. |
Porque el marido incrédulo es santificado en la mujer, y la mujer incrédula en el marido; pues de otra manera vuestros hijos serían inmundos, mientras que ahora son santos. |

But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. |
Mais si l'incrédule s'en va, qu'il s'en aille ; le frère ou la sœur ne sont pas asservis en pareil cas ; mais Dieu nous a appelés [à marcher] dans la paix. |
Pero si el no creyente se separa, que se separe; pues en semejante caso el hermano o la hermana no está sujeto a servidumbre; pero Dios nos ha llamado para vivir en paz. |
But if the unbeliever go away, let them go away; a brother or a sister is not bound in such cases , but God has called us in peace. |
Pero si el incrédulo se separa, sepárese; pues no está el hermano o la hermana sujeto a servidumbre en semejante caso, sino que a paz nos llamó Dios. |

For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? |
Car que sais-tu, femme, si tu ne sauveras pas ton mari ? ou que sais-tu, mari, si tu ne sauveras pas ta femme ? |
Pues, ¿qué sabes, mujer, si salvarás a tu marido? ¿O qué sabes, marido, si salvarás a tu mujer? |
For what knowest thou, O wife, if thou shalt save thy husband? or what knowest thou, O husband, if thou shalt save thy wife? |

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. |

Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. |

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. |

Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. |

Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. |

¿Fuiste llamado siendo esclavo? No te preocupes; pero si puedes llegar a ser libre, procúralo más bien. |
Hast thou been called being a bondman, let it not concern thee; but and if thou canst become free, use it rather. |

For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. |

Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. |
Or, pour ce qui est de ceux qui sont viergesc, je n'ai pas d'ordre du Seigneur ; mais je donne mon opinion comme ayant reçu miséricorde du Seigneur pour être fidèle. |
Acerca de las vírgenes, no tengo orden del Señor; pero doy mi parecer, como habiendo alcanzado misericordia del Señor para ser fiel. |
But concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord; but I give my opinion, as having received mercy of the Lord to be faithful. |

I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be. |

I think then that this is good, on account of the present necessity, that it is good for a man to remain so as he is. |

Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. |

But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; |

And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. |

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: |

But I wish you to be without care. The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, how he shall please the Lord; |

But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. |
mais celui qui s'est marié a le cœur occupé des choses du monde, comment il plaira à sa femme. |

but he that has married cares for the things of the world, how he shall please his wife. |

There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. |
Il y a une différence entre la femme et la vierge : celle qui n'est pas mariée a le cœur occupé des choses du Seigneur, pour être sainte, et de corps et d'esprit ; mais celle qui s'est mariée a le cœur occupé des choses du monde, comment elle plaira à son mari. |
y su atención está dividida. La soltera y la virgen se preocupan por las cosas del Señor, para ser santas de cuerpo y de espíritu; pero la casada se preocupa por las cosas del mundo, de cómo agradar a su marido. |
There is a difference between the wife and the virgin. The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but she that has married cares for the things of the world, how she shall please her husband. |
Hay asimismo diferencia entre la casada y la doncella. La doncella tiene cuidado de las cosas del Señor, para ser santa así en cuerpo como en espíritu; pero la casada tiene cuidado de las cosas del mundo, de cómo agradar a su marido. |

And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. |
Mais je dis ceci pour votre propre avantage, non pour vous enlacer dans des liens, mais en vue de ce qui est bienséant, et pour que vous vaquiez au service du Seigneur sans distraction. |
Esto lo digo para vuestro provecho; no para poneros una trampa, sino para que sirváis al Señor honesta y asiduamente. |
But I say this for your own profit; not that I may set a snare before you, but for what is seemly, and waiting on the Lord without distraction. |

But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. |
Mais si quelqu'un estime qu'il agit d'une manière inconvenante à l'égard de sa virginitéf, et qu'elle ait passé la fleur de son âge, et qu'il faut que cela soit ainsi, qu'il fasse ce qu'il veut : il ne pèche pas ; — qu'ils se marient. |
Si alguien estima obrar de manera incorrecta con respecto a su virginidad, que la flor de su edad se pasa, y si siente la necesidad, que haga lo que quiera: no peca; que se case. |
But if any one think that he behaves unseemly to his virginity, if he be beyond the flower of his age, and so it must be, let him do what he will, he does not sin: let them marry. |
Pero si alguno piensa que es impropio para su hija virgen que pase ya de edad, y es necesario que así sea, haga lo que quiera, no peca; que se case. |

Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. |
Mais celui qui tient ferme dans son cœur, et qui n'est pas sous l'empireg de la nécessité, mais qui est maître de sa propre volonté et a décidé dans son cœur de garder sa propre virginitéf, fait bien. |
Pero el que está firme en su corazón, no teniendo tal necesidad, y es dueño de su propia voluntad, y ha decidido en su corazón guardar su virginidad, hará bien. |
But he who stands firm in his heart, having no need, but has authority over his own will, and has judged this in his heart to keep his own virginity, he does well. |
Pero el que está firme en su corazón, sin tener necesidad, sino que es dueño de su propia voluntad, y ha resuelto en su corazón guardar a su hija virgen, bien hace. |

So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better. |
Ainsi, et celui qui se marieh fait bien ; et celui qui ne se marie pasi fait mieux. |

So that he that marries himself does well; and he that does not marry does better. |

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. |

But she is happier if she so remain, according to my judgment; but I think that *I* also have God's Spirit. |
