So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years. |

And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God: |

For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: |
et il ôta les autels des [dieux] étrangers, et les hauts lieux, et il brisa les statuesb et abattit les ashères ; |

Porque quitó los altares del culto extraño, y los lugares altos; quebró las imágenes, y destruyó los símbolos de Asera; |

And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. |
et il dit à Juda de rechercher l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, et de pratiquer la loi et les commandementsc ; |

y mandó a Judá que buscase a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y pusiese por obra la ley y sus mandamientos. |

Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. |
et il ôta de toutes les villes de Juda les hauts lieux et les colonnes consacrées au soleil. Et le royaume fut tranquille devant lui. |

And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest. |
Et il bâtit des villes fortes en Juda, car le pays était tranquille, et il n'eut point de guerre pendant ces années-là, car l'Éternel lui donna du repos. |

Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. |
Et il dit à Juda : Bâtissons ces villes, et entourons-les de murailles et de tours, de portes et de barres, pendant que le pays est devant nous ; car nous avons recherché l'Éternel, notre Dieu : nous l'avons recherché, et il nous a donné du repos tout à l'entour. Et ils bâtirent et prospérèrent. |

And he said to Judah, Let us build these cities, and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars, while the land is yet before us; for we have sought Jehovah our God; we have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side. And they built and prospered. |
Dijo, por tanto, a Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros con torres, puertas y barras, ya que la tierra es nuestra; porque hemos buscado a Jehová nuestro Dios; le hemos buscado, y él nos ha dado paz por todas partes. Edificaron, pues, y fueron prosperados. |

And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour. |
Et Asa avait une armée de trois cent mille [hommes] de Juda, portant le bouclier et la pique, et de deux cent quatre-vingt mille de Benjamin, portant l'écu et tirant de l'arc, tous des hommes forts et vaillants. |

And Asa had an army that bore targets and spears: out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew the bow, two hundred and eighty thousand: all these, mighty men of valour. |
Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas: de Judá trescientos mil, y de Benjamín doscientos ochenta mil que traían escudos y entesaban arcos, todos hombres diestros. |

And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah. |
Et Zérakh, l'Éthiopiend, sortit contre eux avec une armée d'un million [d'hommes], et de trois cents chars ; et il vint jusqu'à Marésha. |

Y salió contra ellos Zera etíope con un ejército de un millón de hombres y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa. |

Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. |
Et Asa sortit au-devant de lui ; et ils se rangèrent en bataille dans la vallée de Tsephatha, près de Marésha. |

And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. |
Et Asa invoqua l'Éternel, son Dieu, et dit : Éternel ! il n'y a pas de différence pour toi, pour aider, entre beaucoup [de force] et point de force. Aide-nous, Éternel, notre Dieu ! car nous nous appuyons sur toi ; et c'est en ton nom que nous sommes venus contre cette multitude. Tu es l'Éternel, notre Dieu, que l'homme n'ait point de force contre toi ! |

And Asa cried unto Jehovah his God, and said, Jehovah, it maketh no difference to thee to help, whether there be much or no power: help us, O Jehovah our God, for we rely on thee, and in thy name have we come against this multitude. Jehovah, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. |
Y clamó Asa a Jehová su Dios, y dijo: ¡Oh Jehová, para ti no hay diferencia alguna en dar ayuda al poderoso o al que no tiene fuerzas! Ayúdanos, oh Jehová Dios nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh Jehová, tú eres nuestro Dios; no prevalezca contra ti el hombre. |

So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. |
Et l'Éternel frappa les Éthiopiens devant Asa et devant Juda, et les Éthiopiens s'enfuirent. |

And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the Lord, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil. |
Et Asa et le peuple qui était avec lui les poursuivirent jusqu'à Guérar ; et il tomba tant d'Éthiopiens qu'ils ne purent reprendre [leur] force, car ils furent abattus devant l'Éternel et devant son armée. Et ils emportèrent un très-grand butin ; |

And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them to Gerar; and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that none of them was left alive; for they were crushed before Jehovah and before his army. And they carried away very much spoil. |
Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, los persiguieron hasta Gerar; y cayeron los etíopes hasta no quedar en ellos aliento, porque fueron deshechos delante de Jehová y de su ejército. Y les tomaron muy grande botín. |

And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them. |
et ils frappèrent toutes les villes qui étaient autour de Guérar, car la frayeur de l'Éternel était sur elles ; et ils les pillèrent toutes, car il y avait dans ces villes un grand butin. |

And they smote all the cities round about Gerar, for the terror of Jehovah came upon them; and they spoiled all the cities, for there was very much spoil in them. |
Atacaron también todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror de Jehová cayó sobre ellas; y saquearon todas las ciudades, porque había en ellas gran botín. |

They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem. |
Ils frappèrent aussi les tentes des troupeaux, et emmenèrent du menu bétail en quantité, et des chameaux ; et ils s'en retournèrent à Jérusalem. |
