And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds. |

And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites the children of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds. |

And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; |

And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. |
Et ils campaient contre eux, et détruisaient les produits du pays jusqu'à ce que tu viennes à Gaza, et ils ne laissaient point de vivres en Israël, ni moutonb, ni bœuf, ni âne. |

And they encamped against them, and destroyed the produce of the land, until thou come to Gazah, and they left no sustenance in Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. |
Y acampando contra ellos destruían los frutos de la tierra, hasta llegar a Gaza; y no dejaban qué comer en Israel, ni ovejas, ni bueyes, ni asnos. |

For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it. |
Car ils montaient, eux et leurs troupeaux et leurs tentes ; ils venaient nombreux comme des sauterelles ; et eux et leurs chameaux étaient sans nombre ; et ils venaient dans le pays pour le ravager. |

For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as locusts for multitude; both they and their camels were without number; and they entered into the land to destroy it. |

And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord. |

And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites, |

That the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; |
l'Éternel envoya aux fils d'Israël un prophète qui leur dit : Ainsi dit l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël : Je vous ai fait monter d'Égypte, et je vous ai fait sortir de la maison de servitude, |

that Jehovah sent a prophet to the children of Israel, who said to them, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; |
Jehová envió a los hijos de Israel un varón profeta, el cual les dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Yo os hice salir de Egipto, y os saqué de la casa de servidumbre. |

And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; |
et je vous ai délivrés de la main des Égyptiens et de la main de tous vos oppresseurs ; et je les ai chassés de devant vous, et je vous ai donné leur pays. |

and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land, |
Os libré de mano de los egipcios, y de mano de todos los que os afligieron, a los cuales eché de delante de vosotros, y os di su tierra; |

And I said unto you, I am the Lord your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. |
Et je vous ai dit : Moi, je suis l'Éternel, votre Dieu ; vous ne craindrez point les dieux de l'Amoréen, dans le pays duquel vous habitez. Et vous n'avez pas écouté ma voix. |

and I said to you, I am Jehovah your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. But ye have not hearkened to my voice. |
y os dije: Yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios; no temáis a los dioses de los amorreos, en cuya tierra habitáis; pero no habéis obedecido a mi voz. |

And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi–ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. |
Et un ange de l'Éternel vint, et s'assit sous le térébinthe qui est à Ophra, lequel était à Joas, l'Abiézerite. Et Gédéon, son fils, battait du froment dans le pressoir, pour le mettre en sûreté de devant Madian. |

And an angel of Jehovah came and sat under the terebinth that was in Ophrah, that belonged to Joash the Abi-ezrite. And his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, to secure it from the Midianites. |
Y vino el ángel de Jehová, y se sentó debajo de la encina que está en Ofra, la cual era de Joás abiezerita; y su hijo Gedeón estaba sacudiendo el trigo en el lagar, para esconderlo de los madianitas. |

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. |
Et l'Ange de l'Éternel lui apparut, et lui dit : L'Éternel est avec toi, fort et vaillant homme. |

And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him, and said to him, Jehovah is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. |
Y el ángel de Jehová se le apareció, y le dijo: Jehová está contigo, varón esforzado y valiente. |

And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. |
Et Gédéon lui dit : Ah ! mon seigneur, si l'Éternel est avec nous, pourquoi donc toutes ces choses nous sont-elles arrivées ? Et où sont toutes ses merveilles que nos pères nous ont racontées, en disant : L'Éternel ne nous a-t-il pas fait monter hors d'Égypte ? Et maintenant l'Éternel nous a abandonnés, et nous a livrés en la main de Madian. |

And Gideon said to him, Ah my Lord, if Jehovah be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his miracles that our fathers told us of, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? And now Jehovah hath cast us off, and given us into the hand of Midian. |
Y Gedeón le respondió: Ah, señor mío, si Jehová está con nosotros, ¿por qué nos ha sobrevenido todo esto? ¿Y dónde están todas sus maravillas, que nuestros padres nos han contado, diciendo: No nos sacó Jehová de Egipto? Y ahora Jehová nos ha desamparado, y nos ha entregado en mano de los madianitas. |

And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? |
Et l'Éternel le regarda, et [lui] dit : Va avec cette force que tu as, et tu sauveras Israël de la main de Madian. Ne t'ai-je pas envoyé ? |

And Jehovah looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have not I sent thee? |
Y mirándole Jehová, le dijo: Ve con esta tu fuerza, y salvarás a Israel de la mano de los madianitas. ¿No te envío yo? |

And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. |
— Et il lui dit : Ah ! Seigneur, avec quoi sauverai-je Israël ? Voici, mon millier est le plus pauvre en Manassé, et moi je suis le plus petit dans la maison de mon père. |

And he said to him, Ah Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my thousand is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. |
Entonces le respondió: Ah, señor mío, ¿con qué salvaré yo a Israel? He aquí que mi familia es pobre en Manasés, y yo el menor en la casa de mi padre. |

And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. |
Et l'Éternel lui dit : Moi je seraic avec toi ; et tu frapperas Madian comme un seul homme. |

And Jehovah said to him, I will certainly be with thee; and thou shalt smite Midian as one man. |
Jehová le dijo: Ciertamente yo estaré contigo, y derrotarás a los madianitas como a un solo hombre. |

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me. |
Et il lui dit : Je te prie, si j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, donne-moi un signe que c'est toi qui parles avec moi. |

And he said to him, If now I have found favour in thine eyes, shew me a sign that it is thou who talkest with me. |
Y él respondió: Yo te ruego que si he hallado gracia delante de ti, me des señal de que tú has hablado conmigo. |

Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. |
Ne te retire pas d'ici, je te prie, jusqu'à ce que je vienne à toi, et que j'apporte mon présent et que je le dépose devant toi. Et il dit : Je m'assiérai jusqu'à ce que tu reviennes. |

Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. |
Te ruego que no te vayas de aquí hasta que vuelva a ti, y saque mi ofrenda y la ponga delante de ti. Y él respondió: Yo esperaré hasta que vuelvas. |

And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it. |
Et Gédéon entra, et apprêta un chevreau et des pains sans levain d'un épha de farine ; il mit la chair dans un panier et mit le bouillon dans un pot, et les lui apporta sous le térébinthe, et les présenta. |

And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid of the goats, and an ephah of flour in unleavened cakes: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the terebinth, and presented it. |
Y entrando Gedeón, preparó un cabrito, y panes sin levadura de un efa de harina; y puso la carne en un canastillo, y el caldo en una olla, y sacándolo se lo presentó debajo de aquella encina. |

And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. |
Et l'Ange de Dieu lui dit : Prends la chair et les pains sans levain, et pose-les sur ce rocher-là, et verse le bouillon. Et il fit ainsi. |

And the Angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. |
Entonces el ángel de Dios le dijo: Toma la carne y los panes sin levadura, y ponlos sobre esta peña, y vierte el caldo. Y él lo hizo así. |

Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight. |
Et l'Ange de l'Éternel étendit le bout du bâton qu'il avait en sa main, et toucha la chair et les pains sans levain ; et le feu monta du rocher et consuma la chair et les pains sans levain. Et l'Ange de l'Éternel s'en alla de devant ses yeux. |

And the Angel of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. And the Angel of Jehovah departed out of his sight. |
Y extendiendo el ángel de Jehová el báculo que tenía en su mano, tocó con la punta la carne y los panes sin levadura; y subió fuego de la peña, el cual consumió la carne y los panes sin levadura. Y el ángel de Jehová desapareció de su vista. |

And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the Lord, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face. |
Et Gédéon vit que c'était un ange de l'Éternel, et Gédéon dit : Ah ! Seigneur Éternel, si c'est pour cela que j'ai vu l'Ange de l'Éternel face à face ! |

And Gideon perceived that he was an angel of Jehovah; and Gideon said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! for because I have seen an angel of Jehovah face to face... |
Viendo entonces Gedeón que era el ángel de Jehová, dijo: Ah, Señor Jehová, que he visto al ángel de Jehová cara a cara. |

And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. |
Et l'Éternel lui dit : Paix te soit ; ne crains point, tu ne mourras pas. |

And Jehovah said to him, Peace be unto thee: fear not; thou shalt not die. |
Pero Jehová le dijo: Paz a ti; no tengas temor, no morirás. |

Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah–shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi–ezrites. |
Et Gédéon bâtit là un autel à l'Éternel, et l'appela Jéhovah-Shalomd. Jusqu'à ce jour il est encore à Ophra des Abiézerites. |

And Gideon built there an altar to Jehovah, and called it Jehovah-shalom. To this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites. |
Y edificó allí Gedeón altar a Jehová, y lo llamó Jehová-salom;a el cual permanece hasta hoy en Ofra de los abiezeritas. |

And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it: |
Et il arriva, en cette nuit-là, que l'Éternel lui dit : Prends le jeune taureau qui est à ton père ete le second taureau de sept ans ; et tu renverseras l'autel de Baal qui est à ton père, et tu couperas l'ashèref qui est auprès ; |

And it came to pass the same night, that Jehovah said to him, Take the young bullock, which thy father hath, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the Asherah that is by it; |
Aconteció que la misma noche le dijo Jehová: Toma un toro del hato de tu padre, el segundo toro de siete años, y derriba el altar de Baal que tu padre tiene, y corta también la imagen de Asera que está junto a él; |

And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down. |
et tu bâtiras un autel à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, sur le sommet de ce lieu fort, avec l'arrangement [convenable]. Et tu prendras le second taureau, et tu l'offrirasg en holocauste sur le bois de l'ashère que tu auras coupée. |

and build an altar to Jehovah thy God upon the top of this strong place in the ordered manner, and take the second bullock, and offer up a burnt-offering with the wood of the Asherah that thou shalt cut down. |
y edifica altar a Jehová tu Dios en la cumbre de este peñasco en lugar conveniente; y tomando el segundo toro, sacrifícalo en holocausto con la madera de la imagen de Asera que habrás cortado. |

Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night. |
Et Gédéon prit dix hommes d'entre ses serviteurs, et fit comme l'Éternel lui avait dit ; et comme, à le faire de jour, il craignait la maison de son père et les hommes de la ville, il le fit de nuit. |

And Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Jehovah had said to him. And it came to pass, because he feared his father's house, and the men of the city, if he did it by day, that he did it by night. |
Entonces Gedeón tomó diez hombres de sus siervos, e hizo como Jehová le dijo. Mas temiendo hacerlo de día, por la familia de su padre y por los hombres de la ciudad, lo hizo de noche. |

And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built. |
Et quand les hommes de la ville se levèrent de bonne heure le matin, voici, l'autel de Baal était démoli, et l'ashère qui était auprès était coupée, et le second taureau était offerth sur l'autel qui avait été bâti. |

And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered up upon the altar that was built. |
Por la mañana, cuando los de la ciudad se levantaron, he aquí que el altar de Baal estaba derribado, y cortada la imagen de Asera que estaba junto a él, y el segundo toro había sido ofrecido en holocausto sobre el altar edificado. |

And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing. |
Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Qui a fait cela ? Et ils s'enquirent et cherchèrent, et dirent : Gédéon, fils de Joas, a fait cela. |

And they said one to another, Who has done this thing? And when they inquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing. |
Y se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Quién ha hecho esto? Y buscando e inquiriendo, les dijeron: Gedeón hijo de Joás lo ha hecho. Entonces los hombres de la ciudad dijeron a Joás: |

Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it. |
Et les hommes de la ville dirent à Joas : Fais sortir ton fils, et qu'il meure ; car il a démoli l'autel de Baal et a coupé l'ashère qui était auprès. |

And the men of the city said to Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it. |
Saca a tu hijo para que muera, porque ha derribado el altar de Baal y ha cortado la imagen de Asera que estaba junto a él. |

And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar. |
Et Joas dit à tous ceux qui se tenaient près de lui : Est-ce vous qui plaiderez pour Baal ? Est-ce vous qui le sauverez ? Celui qui plaide pour lui, qu'il soit mis à mort, d'ici au matin. S'il est dieu, qu'il plaide pour lui-même, car on a démoli son autel. |

And Joash said to all that stood near him, Will *ye* contend for Baal? or will *ye* save him? he that contends for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning. If he be a god, let him plead for himself, because they have broken down his altar. |
Y Joás respondió a todos los que estaban junto a él: ¿Contenderéis vosotros por Baal? ¿Defenderéis su causa? Cualquiera que contienda por él, que muera esta mañana. Si es un dios, contienda por sí mismo con el que derribó su altar. |

Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar. |

Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel. |
Et tout Madian, et Amalek, et les fils de l'orient, se réunirent ensemble et passèrent [le Jourdain], et campèrent dans la vallée de Jizreël. |

And all Midian and Amalek and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and encamped in the valley of Jezreel. |

But the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abi–ezer was gathered after him. |
Et l'Esprit de l'Éternel revêtit Gédéon, et il sonna de la trompette, et les Abiézerites furent assemblés à sa suite. |

And the Spirit of Jehovah came upon Gideon, and he blew the trumpet, and the Abi-ezrites were gathered after him. |

And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them. |
Et il envoya des messagers par tout Manassé, et eux aussi furent assemblés à sa suite ; et il envoya des messagers à Aser, et à Zabulon, et à Nephthali ; et ils montèrent à leur rencontre.k |

And he sent messengers throughout Manasseh, and they also were gathered after him; and he sent messengers to Asher, and to Zebulun, and to Naphtali; and they came up to meet them. |
Y envió mensajeros por todo Manasés, y ellos también se juntaron con él; asimismo envió mensajeros a Aser, a Zabulón y a Neftalí, los cuales salieron a encontrarles. |

And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, |
Et Gédéon dit à Dieu : Si tu veux sauver Israël par ma main, comme tu l'as dit, |

Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. |
voici, je mets une toison de laine dans l'aire : si la rosée est sur la toison seule, et que la sécheresse soit sur toute la terre, alors je connaîtrai que tu sauveras Israël par ma main, comme tu l'as dit. |

behold, I put a fleece of wool on the threshing-floor; if dew shall be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the ground, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said. |
he aquí que yo pondré un vellón de lana en la era; y si el rocío estuviere en el vellón solamente, quedando seca toda la otra tierra, entonces entenderé que salvarás a Israel por mi mano, como lo has dicho. |

And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. |
Et il arriva ainsi. Et il se leva de bonne heure le lendemain, et il pressa la toison et exprima la rosée de la toison, plein unel coupe d'eau. |

And it was so. And when he rose up early on the morrow, he pressed the fleece together, and wrung dew out of the fleece, a bowl-full of water. |
Y aconteció así, pues cuando se levantó de mañana, exprimió el vellón y sacó de él el rocío, un tazón lleno de agua. |

And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. |
Et Gédéon dit à Dieu : Que ta colère ne s'embrase pas contre moi, et je parlerai seulement cette fois : encore une seule fois, je te prie, je ferai un essai avec la toison ; je te prie qu'il n'y ait de la sécheresse que sur la toison, et que sur toute la terre il y ait de la rosée. |
