And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire. |
☆ Et les hommes d'Éphraïm se rassemblèrent, et ils passèrent vers le nord, et dirent à Jephthé : Pourquoi as-tu passé pour combattre contre les fils d'Ammon, et ne nous as-tu pas appelés pour aller avec toi ? Nous brûlerons au feu ta maison sur toi. |

And the men of Ephraim were called together, and passed over northwards, and said to Jephthah, Why didst thou pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? We will burn thy house upon thee with fire. |
Entonces se reunieron los varones de Efraín, y pasaron hacia el norte, y dijeron a Jefté: ¿Por qué fuiste a hacer guerra contra los hijos de Amón, y no nos llamaste para que fuéramos contigo? Nosotros quemaremos tu casa contigo. |

And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands. |
Et Jephthé leur dit : Nous avons eu de grands débats, moi et mon peuple, avec les fils d'Ammon ; et je vous ai appelés, et vous ne m'avez pas sauvé de leur main. |

And Jephthah said to them, I was at great strife, I and my people, with the children of Ammon; and I called you, but ye saved me not out of their hand. |
Y Jefté les respondió: Yo y mi pueblo teníamos una gran contienda con los hijos de Amón, y os llamé, y no me defendisteis de su mano. |

And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the Lord delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me? |
Et quand j'ai vu que vous ne me sauviez pas, j'ai mis ma vie dans ma main, et j'ai passé vers les fils d'Ammon ; et l'Éternel les a livrés en ma main. Et pourquoi êtes-vous montés contre moi en ce jour-ci, pour me faire la guerre ? |

And when I saw that ye would not save me, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah gave them into my hand. Why then are ye come up to me this day, to fight against me? |
Viendo, pues, que no me defendíais, arriesgué mi vida, y pasé contra los hijos de Amón, y Jehová me los entregó; ¿por qué, pues, habéis subido hoy contra mí para pelear conmigo? |

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites. |
Et Jephthé rassembla tous les hommes de Galaad et fit la guerre à Éphraïm ; et les hommes de Galaad frappèrent Éphraïm, parce qu'ils avaient dit : Vous, Galaad, vous êtes des fugitifs d'Éphraïm, au milieu d'Éphraïm, au milieu de Manassé. |

And Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye, Gilead, ye are fugitives of Ephraim in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh. |
Entonces reunió Jefté a todos los varones de Galaad, y peleó contra Efraín; y los de Galaad derrotaron a Efraín, porque habían dicho: Vosotros sois fugitivos de Efraín, vosotros los galaaditas, en medio de Efraín y de Manasés. |

And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay; |
Et Galaad enleva à Éphraïm les gués du Jourdain ; et il arriva que, lorsqu'un des fuyards d'Éphraïm disait : Je veux passer, les hommes de Galaad lui disaient : Es-tu Éphraïmite ? et il disait : Non. |

And Gilead took the fords of the Jordan before Ephraim; and it came to pass that when the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said to him, Art thou an Ephraimite? and he said, No. |

Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand. |
Alors ils lui disaient : Dis donc Shibboletha. Mais il disait Sibboleth, car il ne pouvait pas bien prononcer. Alors ils le saisissaient et l'égorgeaient aux gués du Jourdain. Et il tomba en ce temps-là quarante-deux mille [hommes] d'Éphraïm. |

Then they said to him, Say now Shibboleth! and he said, Sibboleth, and did not manage to pronounce it rightly. Then they took him, and slaughtered him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty-two thousand. |
