Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; |

Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof; |

Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal–hermon unto the entering in of Hamath. |
cinq princesa des Philistins, et tous les Cananéens et les Sidoniens et les Héviens qui habitaient dans la montagne du Liban, depuis la montagne de Baal-Hermon jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath ; |

And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. |
elles étaient [laissées] pour éprouver par elles Israël, pour savoir s'ils écouteraient les commandements de l'Éternel, qu'il avait commandés à leurs pères par Moïse. |

And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites: |

Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan–rishathaim eight years. |
Et la colère de l'Éternel s'embrasa contre Israël, et il les vendit en la main de Cushan-Rishhathaïm, roi d'Aram-Naharaïmc. Et les fils d'Israël servirent Cushan-Rishhathaïm huit ans. |

Et les fils d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel ; et l'Éternel suscita aux fils d'Israël un sauveur qui les délivra, Othniel, fils de Kenaz, frère puîné de Caleb. |

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan–rishathaim. |
Et l'Esprit de l'Éternel fut sur lui, et il jugea Israël ; et il sortit pour la guerre, et l'Éternel livra en sa main Cushan-Rishhathaïm, roi d'Aramd, et sa main fut forte contre Cushan-Rishhathaïm. |

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord. |
Et les fils d'Israël firent de nouveau ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel, et l'Éternel fortifia Églon, roi de Moab, contre Israël, parce qu'ils faisaient ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel. |

And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; and Jehovah strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they did evil in the sight of Jehovah. |
Volvieron los hijos de Israel a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová fortaleció a Eglón rey de Moab contra Israel, por cuanto habían hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová. |

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees. |

But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab. |
Et les fils d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel ; et l'Éternel leur suscita un sauveur, Éhud, fils de Guéra, le Benjaminite, qui était gaucherf. Et les fils d'Israël envoyèrent par lui un présent à Églon, roi de Moabg. |

And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah, and Jehovah raised them up a saviour, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjaminite, a man left-handed. And by him the children of Israel sent a gift to Eglon king of Moab. |
Y clamaron los hijos de Israel a Jehová; y Jehová les levantó un libertador, a Aod hijo de Gera, benjamita, el cual era zurdo. Y los hijos de Israel enviaron con él un presente a Eglón rey de Moab. |

But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh. |
Et Éhud se fit faire une épée à deux tranchants, longue d'une petite coudée, et il la ceignit par dessous ses vêtements, sur la hanche droite. |

And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man. |
Et il offrit le présent à Églon, roi de Moab ; or Églon était un homme très-gras. |

And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present. |
Et il arriva que, lorsqu'il eut achevé d'offrir le présent, il renvoya les gens qui avaient apporté le présent. |

And it came to pass when he had ended offering the gift, he sent away the people that had borne the gift. |
Y luego que hubo entregado el presente, despidió a la gente que lo había traído. |

But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him. |
Mais lui s'en revint des images tailléesh, qui étaient près de Guilgal, et dit : J'ai pour toi une parole secrète, ô roi ! Et il dit : Silence ! Et tous ceux qui étaient près de lui sortirent d'auprès de lui. |

But he turned from the graven images that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret word unto thee, O king. And he said, Be silent! And all that stood by him went out from him. |
Mas él se volvió desde los ídolos que están en Gilgal, y dijo: Rey, una palabra secreta tengo que decirte. Él entonces dijo: Calla. Y salieron de delante de él todos los que con él estaban. |

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. |
Et Éhud entra vers lui ; or il était assis dans une chambre haute de rafraîchissement, qui était pour lui seul ; et Éhud dit : J'ai une parole de Dieu pour toi. |

And Ehud came to him; now he was sitting in the cool upper-chamber, which was for him alone. And Ehud said, I have a word from God unto thee. And he arose from the seat. |
Y se le acercó Aod, estando él sentado solo en su sala de verano. Y Aod dijo: Tengo palabra de Dios para ti. Él entonces se levantó de la silla. |

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: |
Et [le roi] se leva de son siège ; et Éhud étendit sa main gauche, et prit l'épée de dessus son côté droit, et la lui enfonça dans le ventre ; |

Entonces alargó Aod su mano izquierda, y tomó el puñal de su lado derecho, y se lo metió por el vientre, |

And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. |
et même la poignée entra après la lame, et la graisse se referma sur la lame ; car il ne retira pas l'épée de son ventre, et elle sortit entre les jambes. |

Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them. |
Et Éhud sortit par le portique, et ferma sur lui les portes de la chambre haute, et mit le verrou. |

Y salió Aod al corredor, y cerró tras sí las puertas de la sala y las aseguró con el cerrojo. |

When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. |
Et quand il fut sorti, les serviteurs du roii vinrent, et virent : et voici, les portes de la chambre haute étaient fermées au verrou ; et ils dirent : Sans doute il se couvre les pieds dans la chambre de rafraîchissement. |

And when he was gone out, the servants of the king came and saw, and behold, the doors of the upper-chamber were bolted. And they said, Surely he is covering his feet in the summer chamber. |
Cuando él hubo salido, vinieron los siervos del rey, los cuales viendo las puertas de la sala cerradas, dijeron: Sin duda él cubre sus pies en la sala de verano. |

And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. |
Et ils attendirent jusqu'à en avoir honte ; et voici, on n'ouvrait pas les portes de la chambrej ; et ils prirent la clef et ouvrirent, et voici, leur seigneur gisait par terre, mort. |

And they waited till they were ashamed; and behold, he opened not the doors of the upper-chamber, and they took the key, and opened them , and behold, their lord lay dead on the earth. |
Y habiendo esperado hasta estar confusos, porque él no abría las puertas de la sala, tomaron la llave y abrieron; y he aquí su señor caído en tierra, muerto. |

And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath. |
Et Éhud s'était échappé pendant qu'ils tardaient, et avait dépassé les images tailléesh ; et il se sauva à Sehira. |

And Ehud had escaped while they lingered, and passed beyond the graven images, and escaped to Seirah. |
Mas entre tanto que ellos se detuvieron, Aod escapó, y pasando los ídolos, se puso a salvo en Seirat. |

And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them. |
Et quand il y fut entré, il arriva qu'il sonna de la trompette dans la montagne d'Éphraïm ; et les fils d'Israël descendirent avec lui de la montagne, et lui devant eux. |

And it came to pass when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill-country, and he before them. |
Y cuando había entrado, tocó el cuerno en el monte de Efraín, y los hijos de Israel descendieron con él del monte, y él iba delante de ellos. |

And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over. |
Et il leur dit : Suivez-moi, car l'Éternel a livré en votre main vos ennemis, les Moabites. Et ils descendirent après lui, et enlevèrent à Moab les gués du Jourdain, et ne laissèrent passer personne. |

And he said to them, Follow after me, for Jehovah has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of the Jordan toward Moab, and suffered no one to pass over. |
Entonces él les dijo: Seguidme, porque Jehová ha entregado a vuestros enemigos los moabitas en vuestras manos. Y descendieron en pos de él, y tomaron los vados del Jordán a Moab, y no dejaron pasar a ninguno. |

And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man. |
Et en ce temps-là, ils frappèrent Moab, environ dix mille hommes, tous fortsk et tous vaillants, et pas un n'échappa. |
