And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof; |
☆ Et il arriva que, lorsque tous les rois qui étaient en deçà du Jourdain, dans la montagne et dans le pays plat, et sur tout le rivage de la grande mer, jusque vers le Liban, le Héthien, et l'Amoréen, le Cananéen, le Phérézien, le Hévien, et le Jébusien, eurent entendu [ces choses], |

Cuando oyeron estas cosas todos los reyes que estaban a este lado del Jordán, así en las montañas como en los llanos, y en toda la costa del Mar Grande delante del Líbano, los heteos, amorreos, cananeos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos, |

They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; |
et ils usèrent de ruse, eux aussi ; et ils se mirent en route, préparés comme pour un voyagea, et prirent de vieux sacs sur leurs ânes, et de vieilles outres à vin crevassées et recousues, |

then they also acted with craft, and they went prepared as on a journey, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine-flasks, old and rent and tied up; |
usaron de astucia; pues fueron y se fingieron embajadores, y tomaron sacos viejos sobre sus asnos, y cueros viejos de vino, rotos y remendados, |

And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy. |
et de vieilles sandales rapiécées à leurs pieds, et de vieux habits sur eux ; et tout le pain de leur provision était sec [et] s'était moisib. |

And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us. |
Et ils allèrent vers Josué, au camp de Guilgal, et ils lui dirent, et aux hommes d'Israël : Nous venons d'un pays éloigné ; et maintenant, traitez alliance avec nous. |

And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said to him, and to the men of Israel, From a far country are we come; and now make a covenant with us. |
Y vinieron a Josué al campamento en Gilgal, y le dijeron a él y a los de Israel: Nosotros venimos de tierra muy lejana; haced, pues, ahora alianza con nosotros. |

And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you? |
Et les hommes d'Israël dirent au Hévien : Peut-être que tu habites au milieu de nous ; et comment traiterions-nous alliance avec toi ? |

And the men of Israel said to the Hivite, Perhaps thou dwellest in the midst of us, and how should I make a covenant with thee? |
Y los de Israel respondieron a los heveos: Quizá habitáis en medio de nosotros. ¿Cómo, pues, podremos hacer alianza con vosotros?a |

And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye? |
Et ils dirent à Josué : Nous sommes tes serviteurs. Et Josué leur dit : Qui êtes-vous ? et d'où venez-vous ? |

Ellos respondieron a Josué: Nosotros somos tus siervos. Y Josué les dijo: ¿Quiénes sois vosotros, y de dónde venís? |

And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the Lord thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt, |
Et ils lui dirent : Tes serviteurs viennent d'un pays très-éloigné, au nom de l'Éternel, ton Dieu ; car nous avons entendu sa renommée, |

And they said to him, From a very far country are thy servants come, because of the name of Jehovah thy God; for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt, |
Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos han venido de tierra muy lejana, por causa del nombre de Jehová tu Dios; porque hemos oído su fama, y todo lo que hizo en Egipto, |

And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth. |
et tout ce qu'il a fait en Égypte, et tout ce qu'il a fait aux deux rois des Amoréens qui étaient au delà du Jourdain, à Sihon, roi de Hesbon, et à Og, roi de Basan, qui était à Ashtaroth. |

and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon the king of Heshbon, and to Og the king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth. |
y todo lo que hizo a los dos reyes de los amorreos que estaban al otro lado del Jordán: a Sehón rey de Hesbón, y a Og rey de Basán, que estaba en Astarot.b |

Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us. |
Et nos anciens et tous les habitants de notre pays nous ont parlé, disant : Prenez avec vous des provisions pour la route, et allez au-devant d'eux, et dites-leur : Nous sommes vos serviteurs, et maintenant traitez alliance avec nous. |

And our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take victuals in your hand for the way, and go to meet them, and say to them, We are your servants, and now make a covenant with us. |
Por lo cual nuestros ancianos y todos los moradores de nuestra tierra nos dijeron: Tomad en vuestras manos provisión para el camino, e id al encuentro de ellos, y decidles: Nosotros somos vuestros siervos; haced ahora alianza con nosotros. |

This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy: |
C'est ici notre pain ; nous le prîmes chaud de nos maisons pour notre provision, le jour que nous partîmes pour venir vers vous ; et maintenant, voici, il est sec et s'est moisib. |

This our bread we took warm for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; and now, behold, it is dry, and is become mouldy. |
Este nuestro pan lo tomamos caliente de nuestras casas para el camino el día que salimos para venir a vosotros; y helo aquí ahora ya seco y mohoso. |

And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey. |
Et ce sont ici les outres à vin que nous avions remplies neuves ; et voici, elles se sont crevassées ; et ce sont ici nos habits et nos sandales qui sont vieillis à cause de la grande longueur de la route. |

And these flasks of wine which we filled new, behold, they are rent; and these our garments and our sandals are become old by reason of the very long journey. |
Estos cueros de vino también los llenamos nuevos; helos aquí ya rotos; también estos nuestros vestidos y nuestros zapatos están ya viejos a causa de lo muy largo del camino. |

And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord. |
Et les hommes [d'Israël] prirent de leurs provisions ; et on n'interrogea point la bouche de l'Éternel. |

And the men took of their victuals, but they did not inquire at the mouth of Jehovah. |
Y los hombres de Israel tomaron de las provisiones de ellos, y no consultaron a Jehová. |

And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them. |
Et Josué fit la paix avec eux, et traita alliance avec eux, pour les laisser vivre ; et les princes de l'assemblée s'obligèrent envers eux par sermentc. |

And Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the princes of the assembly swore unto them. |
Y Josué hizo paz con ellos, y celebró con ellos alianza concediéndoles la vida; y también lo juraron los príncipes de la congregación. |

And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them. |
Et il arriva qu'au bout de trois jours, après avoir traité alliance avec eux, ils entendirent qu'ils étaient leurs voisins, et qu'ils habitaient au milieu d'eux. |

And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt in their midst. |
Pasados tres días después que hicieron alianza con ellos, oyeron que eran sus vecinos, y que habitaban en medio de ellos. |

And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath–jearim. |
Et les fils d'Israël partirent, et vinrent à leurs villes, le troisième jour. Et leurs villes étaient Gabaon, et Kephira, et Beéroth, et Kiriath-Jéarim. |

And the children of Israel journeyed, and came to their cities on the third day; and their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath-jearim. |
Y salieron los hijos de Israel, y al tercer día llegaron a las ciudades de ellos; y sus ciudades eran Gabaón, Cafira, Beerot y Quiriat-jearim. |

And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes. |
Et les fils d'Israël ne les frappèrent point, car les princes de l'assemblée s'étaient obligés envers eux par serment au nom de l'Éterneld, le Dieu d'Israël ; et toute l'assemblée murmura contre les princes. |

And the children of Israel did not smite them, because the princes of the assembly had sworn unto them by Jehovah the God of Israel. Then all the assembly murmured against the princes. |
Y no los mataron los hijos de Israel, por cuanto los príncipes de la congregación les habían jurado por Jehová el Dios de Israel. Y toda la congregación murmuraba contra los príncipes. |

But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them. |
Et tous les princes dirent à toute l'assemblée : Nous nous sommes obligés envers eux par serment au nom de l'Éterneld, le Dieu d'Israël ; et maintenant, nous ne pouvons pas les toucher. |

And all the princes said to all the assembly, We have sworn unto them by Jehovah the God of Israel, and now we may not touch them. |
Mas todos los príncipes respondieron a toda la congregación: Nosotros les hemos jurado por Jehová Dios de Israel; por tanto, ahora no les podemos tocar. |

This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them. |
Faisons-leur ceci, et laissons-les vivre, et il n'y aura point de colère sur nous à cause de notre sermente. |

This we will do to them, and let them live, lest wrath come upon us, because of the oath which we swore unto them. |
Esto haremos con ellos: les dejaremos vivir, para que no venga ira sobre nosotros por causa del juramento que les hemos hecho. |

And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them. |
Et les princes leur dirent : Qu'ils vivent. Et ils furent coupeurs de bois et puiseurs d'eau pour toute l'assemblée, comme les princes avaient dit à leur égard. |

And the princes said to them, Let them live. And they were hewers of wood and drawers of water for all the assembly; as the princes had said to them. |
Dijeron, pues, de ellos los príncipes: Dejadlos vivir; y fueron constituidos leñadores y aguadores para toda la congregación, concediéndoles la vida, según les habían prometido los príncipes. |

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us? |
Et Josué les appela, et leur parla, disant : Pourquoi nous avez-vous trompés, en disant : Nous sommes très-éloignés de vous, tandis que vous habitez au milieu de nous ? |

And Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying, Why have ye deceived us, saying, We are very far from you; whereas ye dwell in our midst? |
Y llamándolos Josué, les habló diciendo: ¿Por qué nos habéis engañado, diciendo: Habitamos muy lejos de vosotros, siendo así que moráis en medio de nosotros? |

Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God. |
Or maintenant, vous êtes maudits, et vous ne cesserez jamais d'êtref serviteurs, coupeurs de bois et puiseurs d'eau pour la maison de mon Dieu. |

And now ye are cursed, and ye shall never cease to be bondmen, and hewers of wood, and drawers of water for the house of my God. |
Ahora, pues, malditos sois, y no dejará de haber de entre vosotros siervos, y quien corte la leña y saque el agua para la casa de mi Dios. |

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the Lord thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing. |
Et ils répondirent à Josué, et dirent : Parce qu'il a été clairement déclaré à tes serviteurs, que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, avait commandé à Moïse, son serviteur, de vous donner tout le pays et d'exterminer tous les habitants du pays devant vous ; et nous avons beaucoup craint pour nos vies à cause de vous, et nous avons fait cela. |

And they answered Joshua and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants how that Jehovah thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; and we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and did this thing. |
Y ellos respondieron a Josué y dijeron: Como fue dado a entender a tus siervos que Jehová tu Dios había mandado a Moisés su siervo que os había de dar toda la tierra, y que había de destruir a todos los moradores de la tierra delante de vosotros, por esto temimos en gran manera por nuestras vidas a causa de vosotros, e hicimos esto. |

And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do. |
Et maintenant nous voici en ta main ; fais comme il est bon et droit à tes yeux de nous faire. |

And now behold, we are in thy hand: as it is good and right in thine eyes to do to us, do. |
Ahora, pues, henos aquí en tu mano; lo que te pareciere bueno y recto hacer de nosotros, hazlo. |

And so did he unto them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, that they slew them not. |
Et il leur fit ainsi, et les sauva de la main des fils d'Israël ; et ils ne les tuèrent pas. |

And he did so to them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, and they did not slay them. |
Y él lo hizo así con ellos; pues los libró de la mano de los hijos de Israel, y no los mataron. |

And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the Lord, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose. |
Et en ce jour-là Josué les établit coupeurs de bois et puiseurs d'eau pour l'assemblée et pour l'autel de l'Éternel, jusqu'à ce jour, dans le lieu qu'il choisirait. |

And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the assembly, and for the altar of Jehovah, to this day, in the place which he should choose. |
Y Josué los destinó aquel día a ser leñadores y aguadores para la congregación, y para el altar de Jehová en el lugar que Jehová eligiese, lo que son hasta hoy. |
