For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: |

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention. |
mais, après avoir auparavant souffert et avoir été outragés à Philippes, comme vous le savez, nous avons eu toute hardiesse en notre Dieu pour vous annoncer l'évangile de Dieu avec beaucoup de combats. |
sino que tras padecer y ser maltratados en Filipos, como sabéis, cobramos confianza en nuestro Dios para anunciaros el evangelio de Dios entre mucha lucha. |
but, having suffered before and been insulted, even as ye know, in Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the glad tidings of God with much earnest striving. |
pues habiendo antes padecido y sido ultrajados en Filipos,a como sabéis, tuvimos denuedo en nuestro Dios para anunciaros el evangelio de Dios en medio de gran oposición.b |

For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: |

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. |
mais comme nous avons été approuvés de Dieu pour que l'évangile nous fût confié, nous parlons ainsi, non comme plaisant aux hommes, mais à Dieu qui éprouve nos cœurs. |
sino que según hemos sido aprobados por Dios, para que se nos confiara el evangelio, así hablamos, no como agradando a los hombres, sino a Dios que prueba nuestros corazones. |
but even as we have been approved of God to have the glad tidings entrusted to us, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who proves our hearts. |
sino que según fuimos aprobados por Dios para que se nos confiase el evangelio, así hablamos; no como para agradar a los hombres, sino a Dios, que prueba nuestros corazones. |

For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: |

For we have not at any time been among you with flattering discourse, even as ye know, nor with a pretext for covetousness, God is witness; |

Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. |
et nous n'avons pas cherché la gloire qui vient des hommes, ni de votre part, ni de la part des autres, quand nous aurions pu [vous] être à charge comme apôtres de Christ ; |
ni buscamos gloria procedente del hombre, ni de parte vuestra, ni de otros; aunque como apóstoles de Cristo hubiéramos podido seros una carga. |
nor seeking glory from men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have been a charge as Christ's apostles; |

But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: |

but have been gentle in the midst of you, as a nurse would cherish her own children. |

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. |
ainsi, vous étant tendrement affectionnés, nous aurions été tout disposés à vous communiquer non seulement l'évangile de Dieu, mais aussi nos propres vies, parce que vous nous étiez devenus fort chers. |
así, teniendo un tierno afecto por vosotros, queríamos comunicaros no solo el evangelio de Dios, sino también nuestras mismas vidas, por cuanto llegasteis a sernos muy queridos. |
Thus, yearning over you, we had found our delight in having imparted to you not only the glad tidings of God, but our own lives also, because ye had become beloved of us. |
Tan grande es nuestro afecto por vosotros, que hubiéramos querido entregaros no solo el evangelio de Dios, sino también nuestras propias vidas; porque habéis llegado a sernos muy queridos. |

For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. |
Car vous vous souvenez, frères, de notre peine et de notre labeur ; c'est en travaillant nuit et jour pour n'être à charge à aucun de vous, que nous vous avons prêché l'évangile de Dieu. |
Porque os acordáis, hermanos, de nuestra fatiga y dura labor; cómo trabajando noche y día para no ser una carga a ninguno de vosotros, os predicamos el evangelio de Dios. |

Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: |
Vous-mêmes, vous êtes témoins, et Dieu aussi, combien nous nous sommes conduits saintement, et justement, et irréprochablement envers vous qui croyez, |
Vosotros sois testigos, y Dios, que nuestra conducta para con vosotros los creyentes ha sido santa, justa e irreprochable; |
*Ye* are witnesses, and God, how piously and righteously and blamelessly we have conducted ourselves with you that believe: |

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, |

as ye know how, as a father his own children, we used to exhort each one of you, and comfort and testify, |

That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. |
pour que vous marchiez d'une manière digne de Dieu quia vous appelle à son propre royaume et à sa propre gloire. |
y testificado para que andéis como es digno de Dios, que os llama a su reino y gloria. |
that ye should walk worthy of God, who calls you to his own kingdom and glory. |

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. |
Et c'est pourquoi aussi nous, nous rendons sans cesse grâces à Dieu de ce que, ayant reçu de nous la parole de la prédication [qui est] de Dieu, vous avez accepté, non la parole des hommes, mais (ainsi qu'elle l'est véritablement) la parole de Dieu, laquelle aussi opère en vous qui croyez. |
Por esto también damos gracias a Dios sin cesar de que, al recibir la palabra del mensaje de Dios por parte nuestra, la aceptasteis no como palabra de hombres, sino tal como es en verdad, la palabra de Dios, la cual también obra en vosotros que creéis. |
And for this cause we also give thanks to God unceasingly that, having received the word of the report of God by us, ye accepted, not men's word, but, even as it is truly, God's word, which also works in you who believe. |
Por lo cual también nosotros sin cesar damos gracias a Dios, de que cuando recibisteis la palabra de Dios que oísteis de nosotros, la recibisteis no como palabra de hombres, sino según es en verdad, la palabra de Dios, la cual actúa en vosotros los creyentes. |

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: |
Car vous, frères, vous êtes devenus les imitateurs des assemblées de Dieu qui sont dans la Judée dans le christ Jésus ; car vous aussi, vous avez souffert de la part de vos propres compatriotes les mêmes choses qu'elles aussi [ont souffertes] de la part des Juifs, |
Porque vosotros, hermanos, llegasteis a ser imitadores de las iglesias de Dios en Cristo Jesús que están en Judea; porque vosotros habéis padecido las mismas cosas de vuestros propios compatriotas, como también ellos de los judíos; |
For *ye*, brethren, have become imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; for *ye* also have suffered the same things of your own countrymen as also *they* of the Jews, |
Porque vosotros, hermanos, vinisteis a ser imitadores de las iglesias de Dios en Cristo Jesús que están en Judea; pues habéis padecido de los de vuestra propia naciónc las mismas cosas que ellas padecieron de los judíos, |

Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: |
qui ont mis à mort et le seigneur Jésus et les prophètes, et qui nous ont chassés par la persécution, et qui ne plaisent pas à Dieu, et qui sont opposés à tous les hommes, |
los cuales mataron tanto al Señor Jesús como a los profetas, y a nosotros nos expulsaron. Estos no agradan a Dios, y se oponen a todos los hombres, |
who have both slain the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and have driven us out by persecution, and do not please God, and are against all men, |

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. |

forbidding us to speak to the nations that they may be saved, that they may fill up their sins always: but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost. |

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. |

But we, brethren, having been bereaved of you and separated for a little moment in person, not in heart, have used more abundant diligence to see your face with much desire; |

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us. |

For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? |
