Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; |

And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: |
et nous avons envoyé Timothée, notre frère et compagnon d'œuvre sous Dieu dans l'évangile du Christ, pour vous affermir et vous encouragera touchant votre foi, |
Y enviamos a Timoteo, nuestro hermano y colaborador de Dios en el evangelio de Cristo, para fortaleceros y exhortaros en vuestra fe; |
and sent Timotheus, our brother and fellow-workman under God in the glad tidings of Christ, to confirm you and encourage you concerning your faith, |
y enviamos a Timoteo nuestro hermano, servidor de Dios y colaborador nuestro en el evangelio de Cristo, para confirmaros y exhortaros respecto a vuestra fe, |

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. |
afin que nul ne soit ébranlé dans ces tribulations ; car vous savez vous-mêmes que nous sommes destinés à cela. |
para que nadie sea perturbado por estas aflicciones; porque vosotros mismos sabéis que a esto estamos destinados. |
that no one might be moved by these afflictions. (For yourselves know that we are set for this; |

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. |
Car aussi, quand nous étions auprès de vous, nous vous avons dit d'avance que nous aurions à subir des tribulations, comme cela est aussi arrivé, et comme vous le savez. |
Porque cuando aún estábamos con vosotros, os predecíamos: Vamos a padecer aflicciones, así como sucedió y sabéis. |
for also, when we were with you, we told you beforehand we are about to be in tribulation, even as also it came to pass, and ye know.) |

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. |
C'est pourquoi moi aussi, n'y tenant plus, j'ai envoyé afin de connaître [ce qui en était de] votre foi, de peur que le tentateur ne vous eût tentés, et que notre travail ne fût rendu vain. |
Por eso también yo, no pudiendo soportar más, envié para informarme de vuestra fe, por temor a que el tentador os hubiese tentado, y que nuestro trabajo fuese en vano. |
For this reason *I* also, no longer able to refrain myself, sent to know your faith, lest perhaps the tempter had tempted you and our labour should be come to nothing. |
Por lo cual también yo, no pudiendo soportar más, envié para informarme de vuestra fe, no sea que os hubiese tentado el tentador, y que nuestro trabajo resultase en vano. |

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: |
Mais Timothée venant d'arriver de chez vous auprès de nous, et nous ayant apporté les bonnes nouvelles de votre foi et de votre amour, et [nous ayant dit] que vous gardez toujours un bon souvenir de nous, désirant ardemment de nous voir, comme nous aussi nous désirons vous voir ; |
Pero ahora que Timoteo ha vuelto de vosotros a nosotros, y nos ha dado buenas noticias de vuestra fe y amor, que siempre tenéis un buen recuerdo de nosotros, que deseáis vernos, como nosotros también deseamos veros a vosotros, |
But Timotheus having just come to us from you, and brought to us the glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have always good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, even as we also you; |
Pero cuando Timoteo volvió de vosotros a nosotros,b y nos dio buenas noticias de vuestra fe y amor, y que siempre nos recordáis con cariño, deseando vernos, como también nosotros a vosotros, |

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: |
— c'est pourquoi, frères, nous avons été consolés à votre sujet par votre foi, dans toute notre nécessité et dans notre tribulation ; |
por eso, hermanos, respecto a vosotros fuimos consolados, en todo nuestro aprieto y aflicción, por medio de vuestra fe; |
for this reason we have been comforted in you, brethren, in all our distress and tribulation, through your faith, |
por ello, hermanos, en medio de toda nuestra necesidad y aflicción fuimos consolados de vosotros por medio de vuestra fe; |

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. |

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God; |
Car comment pourrions-nous rendre à Dieu assez d'actions de grâces pour vous, pour toute la joie avec laquelle nous nous réjouissons à cause de vous devant notre Dieu, |
Porque ¿qué acción de gracias podemos dar a Dios por causa vuestra, por todo el gozo con que nos gozamos por motivo de vosotros en presencia de nuestro Dios, |
For what thanksgiving can we render to God for you, for all the joy wherewith we rejoice on account of you before our God, |

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? |
priant nuit et jour très-instamment, pour que nous voyions votre visage et que nous suppléions à ce qui manque à votre foi ! |
insistiendo en nuestras oraciones de noche y de día para poder ver vuestro rostro y completar las deficiencias de vuestra fe? |
night and day beseeching exceedingly to the end that we may see your face, and perfect what is lacking in your faith? |
orando de noche y de día con gran insistencia, para que veamos vuestro rostro, y completemos lo que falte a vuestra fe? |

Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. |
Or que notre Dieu et Père lui-même, et notre seigneur Jésus, nous fraye le chemin auprès de vous ; |
Que nuestro mismo Dios y Padre, y nuestro Señor Jesús, dirija nuestro camino hacia vosotros. |
But our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you. |

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: |
et quant à vous, que le Seigneur vous fasse abonder et surabonder en amour les uns envers les autres et envers tous, comme nous aussi envers vous, |
Y el Señor os haga crecer y abundar en amor, los unos para con los otros, y para con todos, así como también nosotros para con vosotros; |
But you, may the Lord make to exceed and abound in love toward one another, and toward all, even as we also towards you, |

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. |
pour affermir vos cœurs sans reproche en sainteté devant notre Dieu et Père en la venue de notre seigneur Jésus avec tous ses saints. |
para fortalecer vuestros corazones, sin reproche en santidad delante de nuestro Dios y Padre, en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos. |
in order to the confirming of your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. |
para que sean afirmados vuestros corazones, irreprensibles en santidad delante de Dios nuestro Padre, en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo con todos sus santos. |
