1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. et les choses que tu as entendues de moi devant plusieurs témoins, commets-les à des hommes fidèles qui soient capables d'instruire aussi les autres. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Prends ta part des souffrancesb comme un bon soldat de Jésus Christ. Comparte sufrimientos como buen soldado de Cristo Jesús. Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Tú, pues, sufre penalidades como buen soldado de Jesucristo.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. il faut que le laboureur travaille premièrement, pour qu'il jouisse des fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Considère ce que je dis ; car le Seigneur te donnera de l'intelligence en toutes choses. 9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. dans lequel j'endure des souffrances jusqu'à être lié de chaînesd comme un malfaiteur ; toutefois la parole de Dieu n'est pas liée. por quien sufro malos tratos, hasta como malhechor en prisión; pero la palabra de Dios no está encadenada. in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound. en el cual sufro penalidades, hasta prisiones a modo de malhechor; mas la palabra de Dios no está presa.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. C'est pourquoi j'endure tout pour l'amour des élus, afin qu'eux aussi obtiennente le salut qui est dans le christ Jésus, avec la gloire éternelle. 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: si nous souffronsf, nous régnerons aussi avec lui ; si nous le renions, lui aussi nous reniera ; si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él; si le negamos, él también nos negará, if we endure, we shall also reign together; if we deny, *he* also will deny us; Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él;

13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. si nous sommes incrédules, lui demeure fidèle, car il ne peut se renier lui-même. si somos infieles, él permanece fiel; porque no puede negarse a sí mismo. if we are unfaithful, *he* abides faithful, for he cannot deny himself. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Remets ces choses en mémoire, protestantg devant le Seigneur qu'on n'ait pas de disputes de mots, [ce qui est] sans aucun profit, [et] pour la subversion des auditeurs. Recuérdales esto, rogándoles encarecidamente ante Dios, que no contiendan sobre palabras, [que para] nada [es] útil, sino para ruina de los que oyen. Of these things put in remembrance, testifying earnestly before the Lord not to have disputes of words, profitable for nothing, to the subversion of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Étudie-toi à te présenter approuvé à Dieu, ouvrier qui n'a pas à avoir honte, exposant justementh la parole de la vérité ; Procura con diligencia presentarte a Dios aprobado, como obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, exponiendo justamente la palabra de la verdad. Strive diligently to present thyself approved to God, a workman that has not to be ashamed, cutting in a straight line the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. mais évite les discours vains et profanes, car [ceux qui s'y livrent] iront plus avant dans l'impiété, Pero evita las profanas y vanas charlas; porque [los que se dan a ellas] conducirán más y más a la impiedad; But profane, vain babblings shun, for they will advance to greater impiety, Mas evita profanas y vanas palabrerías, porque conducirán más y más a la impiedad.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; et leur parole rongera comme une gangrène, desquels sont Hyménée et Philète qui se sont écartés de la vérité, y su palabra se extenderá como gangrena; de los que son Himeneo y Fileto, and their word will spread as a gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Y su palabra carcomerá como gangrena; de los cuales son Himeneo y Fileto,

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Toutefois le solide fondement de Dieu demeure, ayant ce sceau : Le Seigneur connaît ceux qui sont siens, et : Qu'il se retire de l'iniquitéi, quiconque prononcej le nom du Seigneur. Pero el sólido fundamento de Dios está firme, teniendo este sello: Conoce el Señor a los que son suyos; y: Apártese de la iniquidad todo aquel que invoca el nombre del Señor. Yet the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, The Lord knows those that are his; and, Let every one who names the name of the Lord withdraw from iniquity. Pero el fundamento de Dios está firme, teniendo este sello: Conoce el Señor a los que son suyos; y: Apártese de iniquidad todo aquel que invoca el nombre de Cristo.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. Or, dans une grande maison, il n'y a pas seulement des vases d'or et d'argent, mais aussi de bois et de terre ; et les uns à honneur, les autres à déshonneur. Pero en una casa grande no hay solo vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro; y unos son para honor, y otros para deshonor. But in a great house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also wooden and earthen; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. Pero en una casa grande, no solamente hay utensilios de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro; y unos son para usos honrosos, y otros para usos viles.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Si donc quelqu'un se purifie de ceux-ci, il sera un vase à honneur, sanctifié, utile auk maître, préparé pour toute bonne œuvre. Si, pues, alguien se purifica de estos, será un vaso para honra, santificado, útil al dueño, y preparado para toda obra buena. If therefore one shall have purified himself from these, in separating himself from them , he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified, serviceable to the Master, prepared for every good work. Así que, si alguno se limpia de estas cosas, será instrumento para honra, santificado, útil al Señor, y dispuesto para toda buena obra.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Mais fuis les convoitises de la jeunesse, et poursuis la justice, la foi, l'amour, la paix, avec ceux qui invoquent le Seigneur d'un cœur pur ; Huye de las pasiones juveniles y sigue la justicia, la fe, el amor y la paz con los que de corazón puro invocan al Señor. But youthful lusts flee, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. mais évite les questions folles et insenséesl, sachant qu'elles engendrent des contestations. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, Et il ne faut pas que l'esclave du Seigneur conteste, mais qu'il soit doux envers tous, propre à enseigner, ayant du support ; Un siervo del Señor no debe altercar, sino ser amable con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido, And a bondman of the Lord ought not to contend, but be gentle towards all; apt to teach; forbearing; Porque el siervo del Señor no debe ser contencioso, sino amable para con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido;
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; enseignantm avec douceur les opposants, [attendant] si Dieu, peut-êtren, ne leur donnera pas la repentance pour reconnaître la vérité, instruyendo a los opositores con afabilidad; por si [acaso] Dios les concede arrepentimiento para conocer la verdad, in meekness setting right those who oppose, if God perhaps may sometime give them repentance to acknowledgment of the truth, que con mansedumbre corrija a los que se oponen, por si quizá Dios les conceda que se arrepientan para conocer la verdad,
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. et s'ils ne se réveilleront pas du piège du diable, par qui ils ont été pris, pour faire sao volonté. y recuperen el sentido para hacer su voluntad; escapando del lazo del diablo que los capturó. and that they may awake up out of the snare of the devil, who are taken by him, for *his* will. y escapen del lazo del diablo, en que están cautivos a voluntad de él.
